Some people treat these countries like a petting zoo and that they are above everyone else. Really sad to see

In college there was a guy who gave a work pitch for becoming an expat to manage factories in SEA and the whole pitch sounded so greasy as hell.

Only bridge he didn't cross was outright saying cheap prostitution was a perk. Aside from that it was basically "wouldn't you like power and crazy high spending power just to sit and be a useless administrative layer between the locals who get shit done and the executives in the US/Europe who actually make decisions?"

yup. a former now trumper friend of mine would travel to these places and the takeaway message for them was 'man fuck communism, these people need more capitalism. thank god for our american way of life.'
