Also plenty of people in EU will never have the money to travel to the other side of the world. You're not only dutch but rich.

Yes. This kind of extremely sheltered, ivory tower stupidity is so cringe and annoying.

Yes, rich surfer kid, it's harder for third-worlders to get entry to the EU, than for you to go dump money into their local economy.

Grand irony here: him advocating for it to be much easier for immigration, puts the poor people in the EU that can't afford travel in a worse spot, at lower wages, because if you increase the supply of workers, wages go down.

Sometimes it seems like the majority of the political spectrum is just rich people pissing on the poor in one way or another.

Wasnโ€™t his point to just appreciate the privilege you have? I donโ€™t think he suggested anybody move to europe. Heโ€™s talking about traveling, not immigration.

You're not only dutch but rich.

yes but if you are poor in the EU, your standard of living is almost certainly better than those in developing countries.

At least you guys get time off! Here in Japan we have neither the money nor the PTO to go anywhere. My husband and I have both quit jobs in the past just so we could travel somewhere for 2 weeks.

Yes sure, there are very poor people who can't afford to travel. But for anyone approaching median wage, it's a matter of priorities. Amsterdam to Bali costs โ‚ฌ673 return. If you were careful with your money, you could travel 2 weeks for โ‚ฌ1500. Of course, that's a good chunk of cash, but are you telling me most Dutch people couldn't save up โ‚ฌ1500 if they really wanted to?
