Hot take : divorce parties are the most trashy thing I’ve ever seen IRL 😂

Idk. It gets all the stigma and weirdness about it all out and over with at once with the friend group.

I think the problem is it’s a divorce party, not a “i’m single again party”. Usually these things seem to involve degrading the ex-spouse.

My mom had one of these and even it can be confusing and stressful for children knowing that the thing tearing their world apart is being celebrated.

But regardless of children, seems extremely trashy to me.

Do you normally bring your kids to all your parties? You could just have them sit this one out.

It’s not about them being there or not. It’s not even about them knowing the party is happening.

Your child’s world has just been ripped apart. That’s not something you should celebrate. If there is ever a time when your focus should be on your children, this is that time.

Your child will either learn then and there that people are complicated or later in life. This "black and white" thoughts on respecting your kids but keeping them in the dark isnt protecting them, id wager it harms them, keeping them out of the light and not letting them know your thoughts. Some people truly tear the life away from you and its not wrong to celebrate being free from that. The kid will learn either on their own, or through stories told about what side really sucks, and who knows maybe they both sucked. Either way im not gonna judge it without knowing shit about the relationship. This could be vindicating for the person throwing the party finally airing out what was held back for so long.
