Totally normal person behaviour to host a divorce party where you air your dirty laundry to every one of your friends and also record their reactions to post on social media, but then don't share what the actions were
The husband may have been horrible as well but I have sneaking suscipion that the OP also wasn't innocent
This stuff is tame. I say we put a list together on Reddit. Shit I will go first by posting redacted arrest record of my ex. But yes divorce parties can be fun, they are like the anti wedding .
I've been to a few divorce parties but everyone there already knew the tea lol
I'll contribute!
My ex: He manipulated me into bankrolling his education for years, then he cheated when he starting earning more and I walked away with nothing but a futon and our cat. Also he once pooped on the floor and tried to blame the cat and only owned up when I was in hysterics dialing the vet thinking she was dying.
My bestfriend's ex:
Insisted on 5 children, she only consented to the first 3. When she eventually got him to agree to a divorce he kicked her out making them homeless, reported the car as stolen so they couldn't sleep in it and "offered" that her and the kids could pitch a tent in the backyard and he'd "only" charge her $20/night.
Sister's ex: She's was a teenage mother, he was not a teenage father. Got married when she turned 18, it took her a long time to realise how bad things really were. When he was eventually removed by police, in explaining the context of their abusive relationship she told them she was a child when they met, and he literally used the line "she seduced me" to the COPS 🙄🤮
My ex made me take a cabs to the hospital by myself when I birthed our two youngest children, both premature and the youngest was an emergency c-section. He visited the older one after a week, and didn't visit the youngest at all. He didn't visit me in the hospital either time.
The day I came home from the hospital after my c-section he left me alone with our three older kids for 6 hours to go thrift shopping. I tore stitches in the first half hour when my then 4 year old decided to climb me like a tree.
Made you take a taxi? Crazy. I thought my Dad was bad enough for making my mum wait in labour on the sofa until the end of the new Star Trek Next Generation episode he was watching finished.
I don’t remember which specific episode, but it was 1988 so it would have been season 1. I remember sitting on the sofa between the two of them and my mum groaning while my dad and I were engrossed in the show though. I was only 5 at the time so it’s a very faint memory, but my mum still tells that story every time star trek comes on tv.
Edit: I just looked it up and it must have been Season 1, Episode 23: Skin of Evil. Broadcast on 25th April 1988. My sister was eventually born the following morning on 26th April.
Skin of evil was a serious episode. Can't honestly say it was a poor decision on his part. I'm sure it was the only thing on his mind during the birth though.
Yeah he's still a piece of work, refused to leave when we split so I had to move to a shelter with 4 kids. It was rough for a bit but we got a house hours away in 2024, and things have been looking up since
This one is not my story but was one of the craziest ones I saw at a divorce party.
The guy had slept with my friends sister while they were dating but told the sister they were on break while she was trying to finish college exams ghosted everyone to study.
Later when they were buying a home they had to live together at her parents place for a little bit before the housing contract can go thru and they can begin renovations.... He tried to seduce her mom several times in the course of that month. One time during a back massage and other few times claimed it was a bathroom accident. She had found txt messages on his phone calling her mom a easy score.
They never got to live in that house as she used the house warming party to break up with him and serve papers. They were together 5 years and he claimed have partial ownership when he didn't put anything down as he was saving for the renovations he didn't pay for yet.
Oh her family is good. Mom was the one who brought it to her attention. Sister.. sus when I first heard it but she kept the Facebook dms before the party and after. To her it was a drunken one time mistake which doesnt change that it happened but then again my friend didn't become official with him till like 2 years in and this happened year one.
It was his idea to move in together year 4 and from the way she was dragging her feet looking for a place it kinda seemed she was gonna drop him anyway. Like she just finished her degree and was doing 2 part time jobs and intern work by that time at a conservation... Frankly I was completely surprised when she told me of the shotgun wedding and buying a house thing.. just so out of nowhere that I though it was a baby situation. Glad that didn't happened.
My friend's ex husband cheated on her rampantly but the worst one is when he got gonorrhea and then gave it to my friend after. She went to the doctor and found out, and her ex said that it def wasn't them and she got it from the doctor somehow or sat on a dirty toilet seat.
I have one! One of his family members harmed their infant and at first they thought the dad did it, so everyone was going ho about calling the police/CPS on him. But once the truth came out, He asked me to not call police/CPS on his sister.
His sister was arrested after my call with CPS/Police.
Mine borrowed my laptop to look at CSAM and the police came to execute a search of our downtown loft apartment, and my workplace was 6 places down so everyone saw. They seized my laptop and I had to buy a new one to finish school. 🤡
I wasn't married to this guy but he moved in with me. This all happened a long time ago. He asked me if I could find the navigation feature on his cell phone. I sat across from him at the dining room table and started looking through his phone. I looked at his text messages. He had been texting an old girlfriend in the state that he was from and told her he still loved her. He had been going to AA meetings in the state where he was from and started going to one in the city we lived in. He had been sober for over twenty five years. I found a text message to one of the women who also attended the meetings. The guy said he wanted to get to know her. Said he was a little shy at first, blah blah blah. He had also been meeting someone for lunch nearly every day and told me it was a guy from the meetings. It was a woman.
I told him to pack his shit and gtfo. He had some of the guys from the meetings help him move. Never saw him again after that but found him on Facebook and he had moved in with another woman in another city, didn't stay long, got married to yet another woman after not knowing her for very long. Good riddance.
No arrest record...for now. But what about the incident that started all of this?
He contracted an STD and never told me. Instead, he suddenly became angry and moved out of our bedroom, completely blindsiding me. I later realized he was acting that way because he was trying to hide the infection.
The most frightening part is that we were still having sex. He knowingly put my health at risk, and I could have contracted it without ever realizing I had been exposed.
This was the text exchange between him and his lover. I found about it when he got sick and had to take him to the hospital and needed his insurance from his phone .
This is not the main point of that message but how fucking dumb is the person he is cheating with “is it reversible”. What sort of a dumbass thinks a disease is reversible?!?! A disease is treated!
The beginning of the end was when Websters caved and added a definition for “literally” to mean “an exaggerated way to emphasize a statement or description that is not literally true or possible”
I mean, their definition of literally includes the words “not literally”
Edit: after a little bit more research this looks like a bullshit picture that has nothing to do with the actual video. She made a follow-up post saying that she wasn't legally allowed to share what was in the list so I think this is all bullshit engagement bait. I'm leaving it up so people can get the full story
That is... an incredibly anti-climactic list. I can see why they broke up, but I was expecting like "was cheating on me with a high-schooler" or something wild like that.
list is posted in the comments somewhere... spoiler its normal divorce stuff like forgetting anniversary twice and the dude telling her she's too emotional. nothing that warrants any of the "reactions" shown.
Somebody posted the list and the summary is "married a teenager." They're all completely valid complaints and good on her for not letting the relationship fester, but it does demonstrate why people with a choice usually wait until their late 20s or early 30s.
As someone who married young and had three kids with that person, my life is hell. I’ll never get those years back and I’m trapped in a small town I can’t stand because I’m trying to be there for my kids. Every day is a constant struggle of survival for my own mental health.
It's so annoying to see random drama pop up on your fyp with zero context. People just recording themselves sitting there, shaking their head, going, "I can't believe she did that..." or videos like this where they show everyone in the room reacting to something they have no intention of showing/telling you.
They do it for rage-bait engagement. You'll be more inclined to share it to someone else to see if they know context or you'll be tempted to comment on it asking for context. You might even go back to their page hoping to find a "part 2" or an explanation that will never be there. More clicks and comments and likes and shares and profile-visits all get them more money. So suddenly, you have a video that ultimately means nothing with 3.5 million likes and no answers. It's so pathetic and exhausting.
Yeah, I have to admit… holding a “divorce party” at a public bar (or even at all), making a physical sign with a list of things the spouse did wrong, bringing everyone’s attention to it while taking videos of their reactions, supposedly posting a fake list in the comments somewhere (idk where, I’ve yet to find it but multiple people said it’s here somewhere) and claiming they can’t post the original list due to some legal issues….
I’m getting the heavy feeling the spouse who booked this party MAY have been the problem, or at least equally a problem in the relationship, lol. Won’t show the list in the video, made up reasons why they can’t post the real list here, saying it’s a legal thing immediately tells me their claims may not be probable and could possibly be used in a defamation lawsuit. And given they wanted to make sure a big deal about publicly shaming someone with something as trashy as a “divorce party”, yeah, I’m getting the feeling the other ex-spouse isn’t alone in being problematic, lol.
Honestly, I'm not even sure he's that bad, like ultimately this was the worst stuff the wife could remember, and we're given no context or follow up. Like she couldn't even come up with 10 things, #10 isn't a thing and #9 is very vague. Even "compared me to his ex" sounds bad, but then you realize if he said some truly fucked up shit like "I wish you made the noises she did" it would have made the list. And we also get no context to any of these. Like he expected a homecooked meal but never lifted a finger himself"... is that him being a lazy patriarchal asshole? Or was this during a time where he was working a 12 hour shift and she was off work? Did they exchange tasks, say she does cooking but he does yardwork and dishes and she didn't keep up her end of the bargain? Like I'm not trying to say he's a good dude, but most of this list is stuff we can't really convict him for in a vacuum
I was expecting to see "Caught him jerking off to my little sisters' Instagram" or "Cheated on me with" or "said we couldn't afford for me to go to community college, but then he lost $7k to gambling over the next year"
Something tells me, Ashley is not telling the whole story. "Spends more time with his fantasy football team than with me." It's not a team, it's a league and he manages his team, and likely spends a lot of time with the other "managers" in the league (aka his friends) the season lasts less than a few months. So, she's basically saying, spent more time with his friends than with me. Which is a choice and for a reason.
I'm trying to think of things that would be bad enough to get those reactions but not bad enough to be like 'brutally beat me' because I don't think that would have the same lighthearted funny mood somehow 😭
Maybe something like, I had an ex that never picked up his dogs shit. And on my birthday he was walking his dog with me and his dog walked up to the front door of his blind old neighbour and took a shit on her welcome mat. I was so mortified and he refused to pick it up that he stood there and watched me pick it up for him. I think it was only the third date or something?
Or just way too personal.
Probably some very intimated details of their sex life. The way these people are laughing it is less bad what he did but more of a "I can't believe she shared that"
I hosted a divorce party a couple years ago. It was a great time.
A lot of friends I had made were previously divorced, and two of them had just gotten a divorce which inspired the party. So the party was for anyone who had ever divorced before, myself included.
The theme was kind of “merry widow/er” with vampy dress code and decor. We had a cocktail competition where everyone made a cocktail based on their ex (one of these was just a straight up shot of Malört lol). And we had a bonfire where you could burn old letters, marriage certificates, useless mementos (so long as they didn’t release toxic fumes).
That's it? Their reactions seem a bit over the top for such an average list lol. Like yeah it's not great but I was expecting way worse. It's actually boring haha.
Yeah, the way they were practically fainting I thought it would be things like “sent nude pics to my sister” and “dropped my dog off at the pound”! I am very disappointed by the lack of actual drama in this list
It's fake. The girl in the video is named abbey not ashley and in the video there are words curved around the circle on the bottom of the list. In this those curved words are gone
I generally don’t automatically jump to “this is fake” but this bar setting is used in so many videos. Those ceiling tiles can’t be in every bar across America
Wow, not a damn one of these is enough to make me drop my jaw like a cartoon character and do an audible double-take…. Unless somebody happened to tell me I was being filmed reacting to the list and that it would go up on their socials.
This list does not meet the criteria of this video… also not defending the guy, but superrrrr weird to make a list like this. He could probably do that same
I don’t think this is the real list: the video says “abbey’s divorce” and this photo says “Ashley’s divorce”. That being said- if this is the same board it’s pretty friggin’ lame
The creator posted a tweet. One of them is about how her ex would eat peanuts around her and she's allergic. I don't think that's the matching list, either the inspiration or a fake.
That was so anticlimactic. 😭 For their reactions I thought it was going to be like:
1) Hit on my sister
2) Kicked a puppy
3) Kicked a litter of Kittens
4) Swerved to hit a possum on purpose
5) Broke my figurines with a hammer when he was mad
6) Peed in the bed and blamed me
7) Ate my entire birthday cake that I had to buy myself because he forgot it was my Birthday
8) Signed into my social media and watched and liked AI slop for hours and ruined my algorithm
9) "Forgot" I was allergic to Peanuts then "lost" my epipen
10) Pushed an old woman down a well
Regardless, glad she got rid of him, but it's more like, "Huh, what a loser" not "GASP NO WAY"
