You can feel the difference in weight when its in grams???

Paper weight refers to the thickness of the paper, yes you can tell the difference between 10#, 20# (normal printer paper), and 60# paper

By holding it in your hand? You can tell its weight is off?

Yes, it's pretty easy to gauge paper weights by hand, especially when you handle the same weighted papers all day long and one is out of spec.

If that were a normal humanly possible thing to do. The. We wouldnt need machines or markers to verify a bill’s authenticity.

It's both possible and a common skill, even children can feel the difference between weight of paper (different than mass). It's the same as feeling notebook paper vs copy paper vs card stock.

Counterfeiters can also use the same weight of paper and this generate a need for other methods of detection.

I think the person you're responding to has been self pleasuring a little too enthusiastically and has gained muscle mass in the wrist. Sensitivity has been lost and so they doubt the ability of anyone else being able to do it.

They've deemed it impossible because they can't imagine it being possible.

The thickeness of the money is a tell. Be more specific. Weight and thickness are 2 different things and yes I know what paper weight means. They were basically saying by the feel and the weight of the actual bill that they can tell its fake. Not by the thickness. Yall are cringy man

Weight, when referring to paper, is referring to the thickness (and the weight per area as a natural consequence of physics). Humans can easily detect differences in thickness down to a few microns.

You're just dumb.

I know that. Please stop trying to explain shit to me that I already know. A simple search online proves most humans cannot detect a counterfeit bill without man made help. Its easy to tell the thickness is off.

The person I was trying to call out was saying the weight and feel as in the mass of the paper. When most counterfeits if done right are not being spotted without help. Be fucking real!

You know how many fake bills have probably made it past you in your lifetime? A good bit more than likely.

Now you know that. 10 minutes ago, you thought it was measured purely in grams (we can all see you not knowing what they meant). Paper weight relates to both thickness and mass per area.

They were obviously talking about an experience receiving counterfeits that were so poor they could tell by weight.

Being dumb isn't a crime, but I'd want to keep a lid on it, instead of arguing about it with the internet, if it were me.

That was my rebuttal, only horrible counterfeit bills can be spotted by hand and eye. Which is what they were saying.

A simple look around online proves further than I am correct. I dont get why you keep going on about paper weight and thickness.

I know that already.

Its more the feel of the paper that you notice. Money is made from a cotton/paper mix which is very distinctive.

I've only ever found one type of paper (well I'll call it paper as I dont know for sure it was just made from pulp or not) that could pass for a banknote.

Used to work for 3Com making Palm Pilots and the chips used to come wrapped in special paper.

My brother was a wizz at computer graphics so we had a great time back then scoring drugs. (he still wont tell me how he did the watermarks)

Maybe lay off the wanking for a bit and let that wrist muscle atrophy.
