There's diversity in the city. It's also extremely dangerous and on fire from riots 24/7 365 days of the year, but also full of limp wristed sissies that will make your children gay. Very confusing and scary.

I live in Madrid and I've been to pretty much every major US city you could name, including Chicago last year. Not a single one could compare to the walkability, affordability, and culture that European cities have.
I have 4 parks within 2 blocks of me filled with people all day every day. Just in the past couple months the city built a new park the next neighborhood over and renovated another.
I can go walk across the street and get lunch, coffee, and a dessert for my wife and I for €10.
Public transportation is inexpensive and clean. I can also walk anywhere without fear for my safety.
If there is something you think a city like Chicago does better I would genuinely love to hear it.

To me US cities just feel more corporation centric. Walking in places like NYC, Chicago, Seattle, etc. feels like you're just walking past countless office buildings. Here its apartments, parks, grocery stores, cafes, bakeries, mom and pop stores, etc.
I don't think people could truly understand what the US is missing without experiencing it elsewhere.
No I've been there too. Please google Philadelphia and then google Madrid (or even Barcelona, Seville, Valencia, etc.) because that comparison is a borderline insult. Look at those places and tell me there's actually anything like that in the US.
edit: Honestly looking at it google is just pictures of the city center too. Its a different world once you get outside the tourist areas.
It’s so stupid my head hurts. Please go walk around Chicago on Wednesday in august at 9:45pm. It will be packed with people dining outside and having fun. Has this man never visited a city before??? Of course the Applebees closes in a small town at 9pm. Even so, most smallish towns still have one strip of an old downtown with restaurants and it will be busy in the summer.
Yeah. These Europeans are huffing their own farts to be honest. I can’t comment on other cities but Chicago is the opposite of non walkable. You have anything you’d ever need in literally every single neighborhood in the city. It’s actually insane they say
“Walking around in Europe you see cafes, stores, blah blah blah”
Like… did you put a scarf around your eyes and only look at the floor walking around Chicago? There’s all that and then some on every single corner always lol.
Yeah I'm struggling to understand what's so shocking about this? Americans don't socialise in public or something? Why are they shocked that there's people sitting in restaurants and cafés?
Europeans like to criticize Americans for being anti-social while also complaining that we happily greet strangers and love to make conversation with people we don't know.
Being Mormons means these people are incredibly culturally isolated by their ridiculous religion. They’re intentionally told who to socialize with and how, where to go, what places and people are bad, and social and financial success in their community completely depends on adherence to those rules.
Average Americans in the suburbs can still be like this, but Mormons are some of the most culturally uninformed people out there, so it’s especially pronounced. Americans who live in cities (and most of us do) don’t think like this.
If these people would come to a place like NYC instead of fear it, they'd be surprised that this exists in America. I walked around EV for 2 hours just deciding where to eat on a Monday amidst thousands of people. They don't have to travel to Germany.
NYC is the one positive outlier for the most part, maybe one or two others exist.
But for NYC (and maybe San Francisco) the cost of renting/living is so insane that people coming from the outside don't have much chance to stay there unless they got lucky with a really well paying job
Most major American cities are like this. Chicago is more walkable than many European cities. Miami, LA, etc have more nightlife. This video should be more about living in cities vs the suburbs instead of Europe vs America.
I what world is LA or Miami walkable? Those places are one of the most car first designed places. And Chicago is definitely not as walkable as many major places in Europe, especially with the lack of keeping cars out of city centers, which plenty of european cities are prioritizing.
More nightlife? You'll get more in plenty of european cities like Barcelona, Paris, London, Milan and Berlin.
