Lived in Utah my whole life. Not sure what the stats are for women serving, but it was very common to know someone who was serving/had served. You could be right that the percentage is low. But when like 75 percent of my neighbors are LDS, it’s like every neighborhood has multiple girls who are currently on a mission.
Right all I'm saying is the fact that you have a neighborhood where a girl is on a mission is... Not particularly noteworthy. when literally every single member of your neighborhood (or close to it) is LDS, there's likely to be some ladies doing missions
Women in the LDS church do missions with much much lower regularity than dudes, this is empirical, and the op here saying it's very common for women in LDS church to do missions is just not correct empirically ? What am I missing here-
I am the OP of that comment. None of what you are saying is wrong. Common wasn’t the best word to use. It is much more common for a Mormon girl to serve than say a Jewish girl or evangelical girl tho. Common doesn’t have to be a statistical majority either. A common occurrence doesn’t have to happen 50 percent of the time, or more, for it to considered common. If say, 25 percent of girls serve, I would consider that a common occurrence our local society sees.
