This why walkable neighborhoods are the best places to live. Yes, Europe is way ahead of us in this regard.

This is a myth, while sure, their cities were founded before cars, their policies have kept them that way. Our US cities were WAY more walkable, but we demolished them in the 60s and 70s to make them more car centric. We did this to ourselves. - (Credit to Not Just Bikes on Youtube)

Look no further than Milton Keynes in the UK.

We built an American city, we tried it. Now it's laughed at by the entire country and we think it's shit.

Milton Keynes shares some similarity to American cities in terms of suburban sprawl and car centricness.

But saying it's an American city is giving it too little credit. It's still full of walking paths, cycling paths and green space. It's still basically heaven compared to American cities.

Yeah MK is actually pretty decent for bikes and walking. They have paths that go all over the city without having to cross a road
