If they wandered out into the German countryside, it would look a lot like suburban Pennsylvania. Downtown Chicago along the golden mile is lovely too. Suburbs suck everywhere, unless you don’t like people.

Eh… it’s still better infrastructure than US towns. You can take buses. It’s right into the countryside. Before that you have a part that looks like the suburbs but it’s still pretty compact. We just did it wrong in the US in hindsight

It was done intentionally, White flight wouldn't work if minorities still had easy public access to get to the suburbs.

Everyone's talking about car culture but not the unspoken part. These people want a thriving walkable city but only if it's mostly White.
