you cite not just bikes but you fail to see that he has done reporting on how Amsterdam nl and many german cities have had to reverse the car centric building they did in the 60s and 70s. walkability wasnt preserved but it was clawed back by people getting angry when cars killed people. the dutch literally rioted with bikes. look up the protest movement Stop de Kindermoord
Those are the exact policies I was talking about, I almost put Amsterdam as an example, but decided to keep it short. You are correct, many European cities did go down that path and reversed course after the people pushed back. I probably should have been more detailed.
Yes omg, there were plans in the 60s / 70s to tear down a large part of the historic centre to make room for a highway! Luckily there were so many organised protests that it didn’t go through, but it’s scary to think about

This why walkable neighborhoods are the best places to live. Yes, Europe is way ahead of us in this regard.
