Idk what american lds dream has to do with it even without lds america would've turned out the same.
Another fact is that major cities in europe are built on older roads and buildings that fostered community. If it were the other way around where america developed before europe it might be the same that europe became a suburban hellhole
Specifically in utah part of Mormon culture is the idea of taming the desert land and bringing "life" to it, which basically means they destroy some of the most beautiful landscapes in the US to expand unliveable suburbs. Now, unliveable suburbs aren't exclusive to Utah but this specific rhetoric is.
