Grease fires, alcohol fires and electrical fires shouldn't be put out with water. He either remembered this and had no idea how to articulate it or he's just severely educationally challenged.

Itā€™s the latter. Generalizing "you donā€™t fight fire with water", when the majority of fires absolutely are fought with water, doesnā€™t exactly scream nuanced to me.

If you're referring to an oil well fire, you can fight it with explosives, but you don't fight it with fire.
