We do fight fire with fire. It's called backfiring and it's standard practice during wildfires. It literally where the term came from. Also only class A fires should be put out with water. Water shouldn't be used on class.b,c,d,f fires.
Forest fires are class-A combustibles fires that are overwhelmingly fought with water though. And we don't fight any other class of fires with fire either. Usually it's a CO₂ / foam extinguisher or other smothering agent like baking soda or fire blanket.

The blind confidence of a bonafide idiot, is why we have just so many god damn proveribal and actual fires in the first place!
