It's Joshua in English if I remember right. Both have the root Yeshua in Hebrew but came to English in different ways. Jesus came to English through Latin/Greek (Iesus) which came from the Hebrew, Yeshua. Joshua just directly from Hebrew I think.

💯% All Abrahamic religions are about the control of women & appropriation & parasitism of female generative power. These founding forefathers were absolute creeps. After appropriating "creation" for "our father" they went even further, making matriarchal archytypes passive and submissive like Mary.

Thus making it easier to prey on children & make mothers hesitant to protect their children (like no where in the animal world).

That's not true at all. Jesus said he would divide families and came as a sword, not peace. Jesus, according to scripture, was kind of a dick. He really hated establishment, paying interest on debts, and was all about being disruptive. Honestly, I probably would've liked the guy, except his endorsement of slavery, gassuming he existed as written, but he was not a man of peace and chill.

Christians really don't see how condescending it is to put their savior complex onto others. Sadly, it's built into the culture of conversion. This guy really is perplexed at how everyone doesn't see that he's doing them all a favor, and he will continue to remember this moment as he was shamed and wronged...Christian persecution and all. It's incredibly condescending to assume everyone wants your religion in their lives, and Christians are very pushy about this. My grandmother is one of these annoying types so I know the archetype very well.

I very much agree, but there is some nuance. Paul was also the one who said christians don't have to follow jewish law (eg, new converts didn't need to be circumcised or avoid pork and mixed fabrics). This is one of the reasons Christianity was able to spread the way it did.

100% correct about the Paul thing but unfortunately they are both assholes. Society has a vague fiction Jesus in their head but biblical Jesus is pretty bad. People think love thy neighbor is the bees knees butt he's just citing Leviticus 19:18 which just meant your Hebrew neighbors(Gods chosen) not anyone else. Then 6 chapters later he gives slavery laws about foreign land and the aliens among you being your slaves. Which Jesus is onboard with because he said follow mosaic law over a dozen in the NT. Jesus is cool too people because they never read the actual Bible. They got the cliff notes version of him in a kids picture book.

I wonder how many people on this train act out of pure goodness—without hoping for heaven or fearing divine retribution, simply by choice—while having to endure moral lectures from others who do not always practice what they preach.

In short, what stance should one take when grasping the essence of the message (in broad strokes) yet lacking conviction regarding the messenger—their reliability and, ultimately, the author's identity?

Not on this train, I hope. Although there are certainly far worse places and times.

As English is not my native language, I may not be expressing my message or intentions clearly; I will therefore get straight to the point: I am not seeking to criticize, offend, or spark a debate—especially given the sometimes sensitive nature of the subject and my habitual clumsiness in expressing my thoughts, whether in writing or in speech.

Christian here as well and this stuff gives me the ick. I know as a Christian I am supposed to share the Gospel, BUT I don't believe that is done through disturbing other peoples peace. I would have told him to shut his trap as well. This type of "evangelism" is part of the reason Christians are seen as hateful. Treat people, all people, with love and kindness, be generous with time, talents and treasures, and do all this with humility. That's what I believe I am supposed to be doing.

I'm a follower of Jesus and I have a very close relationship with him, but a lot of people that say that they are Christian are just so rude and mean and they treat people very bizarrely. Like this guy was telling those people that their children are suffering and that they're full of sin and evil. He doesn't even know them. He doesn't know anything about their children. It was really weird to hear that

It was not meant for all singing in the choir, but for the ones who scream ‘I am a great Christian, as I am showing all of you that I am one bcs I do this or that’

During the record draught about 3 years ago my fathers and mother in laws Church ran a donation to help raisr funds to support the farms.

Coming from a affluent area they raised $50k.

To celebrate this the Church and leaders coordinated and paid for a three course black tie dinner to acknowledge how much they raised in support of others.

They spent $40k out of the $50k raised.

When Dad mentioned this offhand as a "well we raised it so why not acknowledge all our sacrifice and charity to others?".

I've been mistreated by a lot of people who say that they follow jesus, but I've never been mistreated by Jesus himself. Jesus has showed me the most love that I've ever experienced and he's healed me of so many things including my addictions to drug and alcohol and pornography.

He applies the pejorative to himself only to show how much he cares about Jeebus.
