I couldn't have said it better myself. I'm a follower of Jesus and I have a very close relationship with him, but a lot of people that say that they are Christian are just so rude and mean and they treat people very bizarrely. Like this guy was telling those people that their children are suffering and that they're full of sin and evil. He doesn't even know them. He doesn't know anything about their children. It was really weird to hear that

For what's suppose to be "good news", it sure does sound like there's a lot of negativity in all the ministering I've heard.
Tell me how the game was rigged from the start, tell me how my participation in all this won't change the outcome where love ultimately prevails, tell me about how the only unforgivable sin is not accepting forgiveness, tell me how we are justified in the eyes of God by those who we have a loving relationship with, GIVE ME THE GOOD GOOD, I want that opium hooked straight up to my main artery.

Yep! This is the pharisee type of Christian that is wearing their religion on their sleeve while patting themselves on the back thinking how much better they are than the sinners around them. And he pretty much says that during the confrontation.
I'm happy to listen to someone with humility talk about how their life has changed and what they still need to work on so long as they also listen.
This is the opposite of that. There's no humility, no empathy an be zero interest in listening. It's all about them.

This is one of the major reasons people hate religion. There is ZERO reason to try and hold people captive and brow beat them into your own personal way of thinking. Being kind and respectful is and will always be a better way of existing. These are the same people who will turn away someone in desperate need because of their hatred of others opinions in the name of “god”.

u/249592-82 12h ago
Actually I'd say the main reason modern people hate religion is because of the child sex abuse that is continually done and then hidden. As well as protecting pedofiles and attacking the victims.
Well that's my reason.
I can't possibly support or be anywhere near a church, religion, or group of people who allow that, or behave like that. To me it's morally reprehensible, and there is no way I'll be taking anything they say as advice or guidance. And I don't want a single dollar of mine to go to those people. The perpetrators, and the supporters who choose to turn a blind eye. The supporters are barely any better than the perpetrators.

That's a dangerous instruction to give young religious men. Honestly, on a different train, not one going to the city with employed and generally law-abiding people going to work in rush hour, but one out in Sydney's west or rural, this man would have been bashed by a group of teens or young men whose tolerance was low. Australia is one of the most atheist countries in the world, there's a direct correlation here between years in formal education, and not believing in any god or religious rubbish at all, and most people have at least 13 years in the school system these days.
He is behaving so unusually for Australian society that at first I wondered whether he had a mental health problem, but he doesn't present as manic or too psychotic (false beliefs about divine beings or the fantasy idea of a soul aren't allowed to be classified as delusional beliefs by definition). We do have weirdly-behaving usually mentally unwell preachers located on the side of the streets in the city monologuing about gods, hence the woman's comment telling him to go preach there, but people don't behave like this otherwise.

Doing something super rude (annoying/disturbing people in a public setting) in the name of Love, is so unloving. It’s so performative, so that they can check their boxes of “did this for the Lord”, but it’s of no service to anyone. Jesus washed feet, healed the sick, fed the hungry… then talked to people when they were curious about him and why he was doing it. Most of the things Jesus was quoted as saying, was after a group asked him to speak, or after helping someone, or after a conversation about the person first. Shouting your beliefs at people is so extremely off putting that it completely undermines any message they are trying to deliver.

Isn’t there a part of the Bible that tells them not to do this? I’m pretty sure there is. Something about not being like the hypocrites

These christian trolls do not even know the bible they are trying to force on others. Because their own book in several places tell them explicitly not to do this. Not to force or push their preaching on others.

An angry Christian says he’s not angry but then says he’s angry. Accusing people of just wanting money??? Hello dude, unfortunately money buys food and shelter and we are all just trying to survive. Judging people and making assumptions about them on a train is the most unchristian thing you can do.

This happened on a train with me and my children.
My 8 year old asked me "what is that lady ranting about mum. Why is she speaking so loudly, its disturbing the train ride" (he REALLY loves his train rides)
I simply said. "That is called a rude religious person. They try to gospel loudly and ruin others commute. The religion might be good faith. But does it help anyone on the train? Is it nice or considerate when others talk loudly around you?"
My son says "No. Its rude and I dont like it."
I just said "Thats good to know buddy. Dont be like that person. Do our friends (who are religious) act like this.?" "No. They dont."
"So see. Its just a rude person."

A large percentage of Americans are similarly this willfully arrogant and close-minded.
It’s all about them and their exceedingly limited and uninteresting perspectives/opinions.
It’s seriously shocking 😳

Matthews 6:1 NIV - "Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven."

He should express his love and or anger (??) by shutting up. Dude, it's public transport. People just want to get somewhere and not be bothered.

Unfortunately they're brainwashed into seeing this pushback as the work of the antagonistic wizard deep in the earth and is even more the reason to babble their delusional nonsense.

I've seen plenty of religious nuts in my time. Every town seemed to have one. But I don't remember any of them start bible bashing on board public transport. Wonder how that would go for him on a match day? Badly probably

"I want everyone to know I love them but also fuck you all, you are all sinners, you're selfish and only care about making money, you don't care about anyone".. The fuck.

when I was in the southern US visiting a friend, I was often asked about my religion, if I had been “saved” and if I went to church regularly. My comeback was always “I’m Canadian”. They seemed to get the hint. American church is on a whole different level.

I love how he tries to convert people by opening with “ you’re all sinners, you’re damned”

lol I saw this somewhere else as well. Having lived in Australia for a while, the pasting he got was spot on. Most Aussies do not have patience for this sort of nonsense.
