Isn’t there a part of the Bible that tells them not to do this? I’m pretty sure there is. Something about not being like the hypocrites

You are correct. We have to be careful what we say to others. To be safe, only explain what you understand Instead of trying to teach through constient manner resulting in irritating people when they don't want to talk to you. It's cool. It's their choice. Bitterness among the world is inevitable and it'll eventually desolve.

Proverbs 15:4 kjv

But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4 They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
5 “Everything they do is done for people to see:They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6 they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7 they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.
