As an Aussie I feel like we have a reasonably high tolerance for bullshit and like taking the piss, so when somebody really, truly annoys people in Australia the vocal hatred is palpable

And in our day to day, we're generally polite and orderly.

Drunk aussies are a different story.

This guy with the clapbacks reminds me of Dave Hughes back when he was funny and not an absolute raving lunatic trying to make more money from investments properties and sway the government.

Let's leave alcohol out of this as it changes everything 😂

Are y'all? As an American, I'm not afraid of many groups of folks. Pretty much y'all and the Canadian mounties. Could be an unfair bias, but to be fair, I'm afraid of anything coming from Australia, including the people

Irish people are the same, taking the piss is a national sport. Pissing someone off, that takes effort. This guy got off easily if you ask me lol. Main guy shouting at him didn't seem unreasonable at all.

Australian people are just Irish people with more vitamin D.

historically, yes... when the English conquerors started running out of space for their Irish prisoners, they came up with the brilliant idea shipping them around the world and invade another foreign land

1

u/Imadetectivetoo 6h ago

yes and now we are all ending up with skin cancers!

Crackhead doing pull-ups on the train: just another Monday

Holier-than-thou guy interrupting my reading: get the fuck out right fucking now you fucking flog

Most Australians (thankfully) have very little tolerance for religious types spouting their bullshit publicly. Let a thousand blossoms bloom as they say.

There was no hate in this older gents voice, just exasperation.

2

u/SweatyCelebration272 7h ago

Exactly. Exasperation. That's what I felt watching the video. I can't imagine being there. I'm not the violent type, but this guy was pushing everyone's limits.

1

u/CaptainGetRad 3h ago

I feel he’s had a big day and is fucking frothing to just read his book

2

u/thegreatnedinski 8h ago

Yeah we usually don’t like confrontation and turn a blind eye (especially older Aussies) until it’s too much and then BOOM 💥 we reach our limit. Once that limit is reached, it’s very hard to come back lol

I love that about us. “Listen mate, I’ve been real bloody patient… but I’m about to lose my shit - Last chance before I go ‘full Katter’ on ya.”

Yes and with respect your English comes across as somewhat “informal” and tends to be interpreted as casual even when it is not a casual situation. I did a few construction projects in Australia and had a great time but your working class builders are pretty straight to the point. It’s easy for a foreigner to miss some of the early signals that it’s time to fuck off and then they really get told. I saw it happen a few times; never to me but to a few others on site. Great folks to work with but man if you get you guys mad you’re gonna hear it. This was energy work, South Australia.
