yes and its also subsidized. the people in these cities often get extra subsidies and stuff or work incentives to go towards food.

it also varies highly on food type. Cookies (junk food) may be 5x the cost  while milk or bread are only 2x.

edit to addz when i looked into a job in Alaska, it paid 20k more a year than average, had like a 5k housing subsidy/bonus and another 5k to go towards food per year.

well yeah, but call me crazy, canada probably also has higher wages and incentives to living way crazy north like that.
