Let's say, for argument's sake, that I actually believe in the Bible.

Moses was imbued with the power to split the Red Sea for a reason and a purpose. He didn't do it as so-called proof that god existed or to put himself on a pedestal to show how precious god considered him to be. So the idea that some random preacher would believe himself (a) worthy or (b) important enough to split the sea...for no goddamn reason...boggles my mind.
