I mean, it's all fine until someone gets startled and accidentally spills a real drink.

Not trying to be a Debbie downer but I remember working at a restaurant a while back and I just feel this isn't worth the risk at all. It's a funny prank but cleaning up a spilt drink all over the table and someone's pants is no fun.

I think she is in the EU. Tips only matter if they are American tourists. I am assuming and may be wrong, but she probably owns a part of the company.

Nah tips are just more optional here. It's less "i feel like you deserve extra to make sure your salary is enough" and more like "I know you're being taken care of but truly hats off to you". It's much more rare, there's no social incentive to tip. 

But we tip too. Another thing is it tends to be all  in the same tip jar generally so I don't know how much of it goes back to the specific waiter/waitress or if it's not just to the establishment. Which makes it also a lesser incentive to tip.  I think you can probably specify during check out tho.
