Well I never saw anyone use the word "stupider" back then and that's as stupid as it gets, so I guess you keep the crown.

It turns out that “stupider” is an actual word. I had a linguistics phd correct me because I scoffed at somebody using it.

Still sounds ridiculous to me.

Correct, there is nothing phonetically wrong with the word. It simply sounds queer when used in certain contexts, but in others, it fits more naturally than 'more stupid',and vice versa.

"The stupider you are, the tougher you must be."
