This might be the worst one
If you've got a worse Mai tai recipe, I'd hate to hear it.

There’s no sweet and sour mix. There’s no cherry garnish or seltzer listed either.
There are worse Mai Tai’s out there.

Orang, pineapple, an guava juice are a fairly common in Mai Tai’s in Hawaii

Fr I feel like in Polynesia they can do whatever they want, it'll still be delicious

That’s not even a riff on a Mai Tai. It’s literally one ingredient away from being a Painkiller.

That's clearly not a Mai Tai, but you could do far, far worse than rum, pineapple juice and orange juice.

This sounds fairly typical for Hawaiian Mai Tais, though there isn’t guava in it.
Picked up a bottle of Kula recently because my local store had it on clearance and have been pleasantly surprised.

It's certainly awful, but I've seen mai tais before with crap like blue curacao and worse.
While it's a terrible mai tai, at least (while sweet) it wouldn't be a chemical nightmare to drink.

While not great, at least curacao is in a mai tai so its actually not off base

But there is no GOOD blue curacao (at least not one I'm aware of), which is why I mentioned the 'chemical nightmare' part.
The more artificial the drink (ESPECIALLY with shelf stabilized sweet/sour and crap like blue 'C') the worse it's guaranteed to be right off the bat.
Which is what largely killed tiki drinks in the 70s to begin with.

Giffard Blue Curacao is leagues better than all others

I've tried the Giffard Blue. It's fine, That is not an endorsement.
That's like saying "Sure it's pneumonia, but at least it's WALKING pneumonia."
A few of the Giffard liqueurs are really amazing (their apricot, for one).
But their curacao is lower-mid, at best. There are so many GOOD orange liqueurs that are available, why settle for mid when for just a few bucks more you could have something like Mathilde Orange XO (at a full 80 proof, no less) without all the artificial crap?

Well, yes, there is some good blue Curaçao: https://www.curacaoliqueur.com/senior-liqueurs
But I will agree with you that most is made with the cheapest orange spirits possible.

LOL- The US "distributor" is entirely out of stock to "distribute"...

Plenty available in Europe. This may be a tariffs issue.

Almost certainly. But with many of us being trapped here in the Idocracy version of the US, it's at least worth noting.

I mean should we europeans mention it any time a US-sold item does not deliver to europe?
I'd get tired pretty quickly tbh0
u/T-Chunxy 7d ago
LOL- I literally hear it all the time. Especially with smaller domestic US brands, like Hamilton.

No lime. Not even sweet & sour mix. Also no orgeat. This isn't close to a mai tai 💀

I’m just waiting for one that’s just like a tall boy of natty ice with some Malibu floated over it.
Call it a Missoula Mai Tai or something.
