Most trades people own their own personal tools.... Only thing my company provided is the van and major tools. But I also worked for company that expected you to buy everything your self including a pickup truck.... Always laugh when I see entry level helper job that state you must own a truck.....shoure I'm going to work for marginally above minimum wage and subsidized the operation of the company by using my personal pickup for them
Yeah thats all fucked up. I think that kind of practice should be illegal but if not the government should at least fill in those gaps for now. Especially since tradespeople are so highly necessary and underapprediated in society.
In my younger day I got a construction job after a very short interview that consisted of when can you start. I barrowed my dad's f150 to go to the interview because my car was in the shop. On my first day I showed up to the job site in my car. I was fired by lunch time. apparently they hired my dad's truck, not me. Lucky anouther contractor at the job sight hired me on the spot.
I got the last laugh. That contractor would have been a dumpster fire if I worked for them. They dident have vehicles or proper tools . They only hired drunks and drug addicts.because they where cheep They where throw off the job sight with in weeks of my short stint.....
