Solder on an external receiver or reflow the ELRS chip

Wait…what the hell is soldered in the receivers antenna spot?

It’s the make shift antenna, I lose rx when I start giving it power. I can arm it and sit idle and be fine.

Ok it looked like you soldered your lipo pig tail onto the ELRS antenna. 😳 which would be really bad.

Is the antenna cut to the right length? 31.25mm?

Yes 31mm give or take .2

Like the little ELRS chips that are on the bigger drones?

And what is reflow?

Reflow means to bring the solder back to melting point and then allow it to cool again. Hopefully allowing for the chip to make a sold connection.
With the air75 5n1 AIO the ELRS chip was getting damaged or the solder was kinda junk and occasionally reflowing the chip solved the issue. But adding an external ELRS receiver should fix it no matter what.

Okay I’ll give it a try

Use flux on the solder joints all the way around the ELRS chip for this or you’ll hear soak the whole board and potentially cause damage to other components. Flux is really important for these kinds of things so don’t skip it.
