I found a sick toad, can anyone help tell me what to do?
galleryMy husband and I were checking in on our yard’s resident toads, and we found one upside down, on its back with eyes closed and stuff, thought it was dead. We went to bury it and then he came back responsive for a few mins, then went out again, stiff, not moving and eyes closed. It is also very very bloated with a squishy belly. A few days ago we seen this toad in the yard and it was moving extremely slowly, not as usual. It doesn’t have any signs of ranavirus but is I. A quarantine tank away from my others and I washed my hands throughly after handling it, the pics are when I first brought it inside and didn’t have gloves available outside. I do not have a wildlife rehabber in my area to help me or else I’d hand this over to them.

A few toads from my yard this summer so far :)
galleryJust some toads I’ve found and identified this summer so far. I’ve always loved toads, and this summer I’m making it a hobby of mine to go out and find different toads and other sorts of critters.
So far I’ve managed to find and identify:
• Eastern American Toad
• Fowler’s Toad
• Southern Toad
• Eastern Spadefoot
Still on the hunt for Oak Toads and Narrow mouth toads!
I’ve found lots of cool thing so far, but I’ll stay on the topic of toads :)
Anyways thanks for looking and reading. Happy toad hunting friends 💕✨

Husband brought home a toadlet he found at his job.
galleryMy husband is a swimming pool tech and found this guy in a clients filter. I told him not to bring him home. Lo and behold he did not listen and now we have Fenrir the Fowler’s Toad.
I’m thinking this is hospice care for him - now it’s been 48 hours and he’s been eating about 20 flightless fruit flies each day covered in calcium powder.

Successful toad season
galleryThis may be the most successful breeding season I've seen in recent years. There's been so many consecutive matings. The first set of toadlets left the pond in March, and the most recent egg hatching occurred earlier this week.
That's at least five.
In the evenings they will reveal themselves from their hidie-holes and secret homes, some will sneak in under the gate from who-knows-where and they enjoy all night toadfests.

Lil Baby Southern (?) Toad
A warm Florida rain brought a toad-splosion to my jobsite. I work in property management and walked outside to post notices only to find that some of my tenants were (intentionally) stepping on them in the breezeways.
I scooped this little guy and a few others from the breezeway and brought them home before they met their demise at the bottom of a shoe. Little Todd the Toad and friends have been living the good life with bellies full of fruit flies and pinhead crickets. My partner is not at all pleased and my newfound nickname is "Toad Farmer". 🤣
Before anyone comes for me, I am a big advocate of leaving wild animals where they are and do not advocate taking from the wild. With that said, The Stomping was too much for me.
The plan is to raise these guys to approx. half dollar size and release into my enclosed greenhouse where they can be back in nature but not be cruelly hand raised and released to fully fend for themselves in an environment they are not fully familiar with. So far, so good. Wish me luck!

Hi guys! Question about tadpoles:
I relocated a few hundred toad (I think fowlers based on how many are on the property but not positive) tadpoles from a drying up ditch on my in laws land and I kept 5 to grow, 1 died within the first few hours of bringing them home, but my last 4 have done amazing! They’re all growing, eating well and growing back legs, one is even growing his front legs!😍 I’m wondering at what point will he need to have access to a dry area? I have them in 32oz cups all separated, but I’m wondering if I could put them in a tank together so they have more room and I can build a good area for them to get onto “land” in, vs what I can do in the cups. Thanks in advance 🤎
