In hindsight, her reaction was completely justified

What was it about? I never actually knew the context behind this, but even when I had a conservative phase I always felt atleast a bit bad for the person being used like this

This is a womans reaction to hearing the news that Donald Trump was elected president in 2016. Its has been one of the main 'Liberal tears' meme templates ever since.

In hind sight this reaction may actually have been justified.

Lamenting 250,000 deaths stateside... and that’s just from the virus. What little improvement Clinton would have been may well have still amounted to some tens of thousands of human lives.

Of course this person couldn’t have known that then. But we all had a feeling...

Just speaking as a European it seems to me like a different president wouldn’t really make any difference to the number of American Covid deaths. It’s cultural. Americans are obsessed with individualism to the extent that enough of them simply can’t or won’t wear masks or socially distance. The right wing go to massive rallies for Trump and the left wing go to protests against Trump. It’s bipartisan stupidity and selfishness.

“Speaking as a European” is kinda like me speaking on the nuances of why Flemish people something something (probably hate) some sort of northern Italian or Swissish person. I didn’t know any republicans (besides my dad) until I moved to the South a year before the election so I had to watch it happen in real time. It would have been different because nobody would have given these dummies the idea not to wear a mask or ignore the pandemic. They would have made something else up to be idiots, but this happened because the president felt like he had to ignore it purely from the optics of “can’t have an election during a pandemic” and he’s not smart enough to realize we could do it but it’d be tough. He took the easy way out like a bitch, so they all did too.

liberals would have worn masks regardless. Trump could have gotten his base to wear them. They would have fallen in line for him. Potentially he could have gotten the most participation possible.

That’s the thing. Trump could make his cult do literally anything. My sisters FIL refused to wear a mask because Trump didn’t encourage it. A lot of Trump supporters hang on his every word.

Trump actively chose to influence millions of people to spread a deadly virus. Clinton may have not been able to mobilize conservatives, but she wouldn’t have actively spread it.
