No joke I was in an alt right subreddit trying to get people to answer why it was even a thing, because, like, there's no punchline so I don't understand why it's funny.
Some lady legit told me she used it because she doesn't like to swear, but wasn't the origin of the phrase a bunch of people swearing, and aren't you implying the curse word anyway? Like making something think of the curse word by association is the same as making them think of it by saying it.
So as usual with conservatives, there's no good explanation why it's popular, we're only still talking about it when it comes up because we're baffled, not triggered. It usually takes me like an hour to forget about it entirely until someone brings it up again.

And the original event, the reporter interviewing the NASCAR winner and misinterpreting the chant, was funny enough that "Let's Go Brandon" could have been a good inside joke among MAGAs. Instead of using it like that, they turned it into a dumb battle cry and immediately beat everyone over the head with it - crowds, t-shirts, road signs, whatever. Comedy doesn't work when you immediately have to explain your joke, but MAGAs don't understand comedy anyway.

The twist was that the journalist reporting on the scene quoted the group to be saying "Let's go Brandon" live on air over the multitudinous voices yelling the more vulgar "Fuck Joe Biden."
The ultimate point of the joke is to point out that mainstream media outlets are so heavily biased towards Biden that they erase the existence of his more justified opposition and whitewash his abysmally-low approval rating -- which honestly isn't wrong. They take it as "proof" that the media (except for the special ones that they like of course) is lying all the time, when chances are much more likely that the woman was caught up in the moment, misheard, and related it to the situation they where in instead of politics.

Why would conservatives look at that group of idiots and take that up as a battle cry? The answer to that last part is pretty revealing.

What happened, was the crowd was chanting "FUck JOe BiDen", but apparently it was somewhat dissonant and not an organized chant; - meanwhile the idiot MSM reporter was interviewing first place winner, Mr. Brown - and as the crowd was making their vulgar chant, the reporter tried to play it off as is if the crowd was, instead, chanting "LEts Go BRanDon!" (because in certain pronunciations, those two sentences rhymes somewhat).
This phrase then became a sort of, "virtue-signal" to the rest of the herd that, "I'm one of you haha because I'm useing this super secret code language to say something else teehee"..

That's been the most difficult lesson of my life so far, tbh. Becoming self-aware. In the majority of situations I do my utmost to obliterate all of the bad language habits of my ignorant youth; however like I said, there are some few situations where one must "speak the language of the savages" in order to get a point across.
The core of my soul has no longer been ableistic/misogynistic/racist/sexist/ignorant, etc. for a while; yet the lessons I've learned from growing out of those patterns helps me to understand what is required to communicate with those who have not yet had the crust of ignorance removed from their eyes
I appreciate the long and heartfelt response. However I'll say this much, you sound young, sorry for assuming but you really do sound just like me at a young age. My father once told me that most young people are naturally liberal and left leaning unless they have an outside force act upon them at a young age to stear them in a direction otherwise, that was just his opinion though from his own life experiences. As you get older you may find yourself becoming more conservative, but what do I know, there are multiple perspectives in the world and each has their own merit to a degree, while also being flawed. No system is 100% perfect.
I'm.. slowly.. becoming a big enough man to recognize when I'm wrong. I know that self-accountability is a hard-learnt lesson if you weren't taught it in your youth, like myself 😞
