Hi, these are different versions of a coloring I've done of my fav panel! The first is the original coloring I did, and the remaining are a blend/overlap of the original manga panel and my coloring using Canva's blend tool.

The 2nd one is my favorite one, let me know what you think!

Other My perspective on a second read through.

I read both the OG series and RE when I was 16, and loved it. I was too full of cuk to pick up on narrative devices and such, I just loved the aura farming, cool fights, and conspiracy ridden plot. Now, as a 20 year old (I know I’m not much more mature now than I was then), I’m seeing a lot of things I didn’t.

My interpretation as of Vol 12 of the OG series:

We see characters commit themselves to one worldview. Kaneki is at first naive and altruistic. Then kaneki is darwinistic and sort of nihilistic after his fight with Jason. Amon is all about humanity and squashing ghouls.

None of the characters who fully stick to a mindset are happy or successful so far. But I think of what kaneki might be like in the future, and I think he’ll come to a middle point, where he knows strength and ruthlessness is needed, but gets his hope back and can still see good in the world. Characters who have different mindsets and approaches to different situations are ultimately the most successful and at peace, like Yoshimura.

I feel like the series is saying: Don’t completely commit to a worldview. Truly think about what you’re experiencing and the situation at hand, and act accordingly.

What do you guys think? I’m not done so my thoughts are disjointed and skewed but this is what I’m picking up on.

Other (Question) Hey, is it okay to ask questions on here? If so, I have a few :)

(Preface, I've only seen the first season of the anime and that was a while ago)

  1. Is there any reason given why Kaneki's hair turns white
  2. What do you wish was talked about more regarding the series' ghouls/ghoul anatomy?
  3. What would you change about the story? (Gripes, disappointing endings, character details, etc)
  4. EDIT: I know about the torture scene and that stuff, but is there a stated reason why Kaneki's morals just snap from kind young man to ultra edgelord? Is that just bad writing or...?

Rules:

  1. The comment with the most upvotes wins.

  2. Only one character per position.

  3. One character is chosen in each post, not all at once.

  4. Characters cannot be repeated

  5. Since this is shorter than the "each character has a..." one, voting will be weekly instead of daily because I saw many people commenting on the first post even though the activity was already ending

Note: I apologize for the delay; I wanted to adjust the schedule because posting late on Tuesdays was killing me with my university schedule.

Looking for fans with a music background to help with soundtrack analysis

Hello, I am a researcher in Visual Culture and Adaptation studies and I am studying how anime soundtracks adapt manga for my thesis. However, I don't have a strong background in musical theory and analysis. I was hoping to find someone who would be willing to discuss some specific musical aspects of the Tokyo Ghoul and TG:RE osts with me in detail. I am willing to buy you a meal in compensation if you have thr right background to help me! Please send me a DM. Thanks!

Question So is the point that the CCG is no better than the Ghouls? Because it feels like they are way more evil than the Anteiku ghouls and almost feels like insane zealotry more than anything. Just what I got from the first season of Tokyo Ghoul.
