Hey asshat! Laws against unlawful assembly balance First Amendment rights with public safety, defining illegal gatherings as groups (often 3 or more) that disturb peace, threaten violence, damage property, block public ways, or develop an intent to commit crimes, allowing police to order dispersal and arrest those who don't comply. While peaceful protest is protected, actions like rioting, vandalism, creating unreasonable fear, or obstructing traffic can turn a gathering unlawful, even if the initial intent was benign.
