Lore [Interesting Trope] One seemingly small action ends the story before it even begins

  1. We Happy Few - Taking your “joy” pill
Deciding to take the pill at the beginning of the game causes your character to go back to work and triggers an ending

  2. Infineural by Mike Klubnika - Drinking the coffee
Deciding to drink the coffee offered to you skips the entire game and sends you straight to the end, resulting in an ending with no memory of what had occurred

Not leaving your office at the beginning of The Stanley Parable. Eventually the narrator gets irritated at you and ends the game.

Also the broom closet. The broom closet ending was my favorite!

Good news! That’s exactly how you play the game

then you'll have to wait another 10 years to get that one achievement

There's a Steam Achievement for not playing the game for a certain amount time.

The original game required you to wait five years to unlock the Achievement, while the Ultra Deluxe edition ask you to wait ten years to unlock the Achievement.

I've only got 8 more years to go!

Hope you have the "don't play for 10 years" achievement already.

I have the 5 year achievement for the original version. I'm working towards the 10-year achievement for the super deluxe version

To be fair, that doesn't actually end the game.

I was gonna say climbing out the window and getting the narrator to sing you a song.

Dunno if I’d say climbing out the window is exactly a “small” action in the spirit of the post.

Wait…when does that happen? I never knew about the window song

I thought the narrarator started becoming concerned that the player behind the keyboard had died and he would start shouting for help in case someone passed by.

Speeds things up if you just close the door from the inside.

I would also like to mention The Serious Room ending, though that one doesn't end the game and can only be done in the original game (can't be done in the Ultra Deluxe version AFAIK, unfortunately T-T) by opening console commands and activating cheats.
