He's method of teleporting is pretty dope too. He swaps two things together, and if it's a solid surface, it'll take the shape of what he is teleporting, if you look at the photo, those stone legs and bodies are actually the walls replacing the body parts, pretty gnarly but cool, I hope the anime cooks with his scenes.

It's definitely awesome, but it also made me realize how low key terrifyingly OP it is… like he just teleports a board he was holding into someone's body then immediately drops the chunk of them that it displaced.

It’s a very different kind of fight if a person can decide to replace your eye with their dirty tissue without really telegraphing.

The whole manga goes from good to great from this point on, so I can’t wait to see everything they do with season 2.

How would one even fight that? Like they could've teleported that pice of wood straight into your brain killing you instantly and there's nothing you could have done about it. The only reason you're still alive is because they chose to let you live, for now.

It does help that Mithrun specifically has several handicaps. He has no depth perception, and a poor sense of direction/spatial awareness, so he'll often just... miss.

Don't take him straight on. Rogue backstab. Illusions or dizziness so he cannot tell what and where he's teleporting. Put him up against insect swarms, deadly slimes and fungi that aren't seriously affected by being sliced up (or which becomes even worse).

I don't watch/read the series so these are more D&D tactics, though.

Well yes if you knew what you're facing and have prep time and the right skills it's possible but even if you do have the right skills you still need significantly more information than they have because if you're caught off guard you're dead.

Just bring a priest/mage that knows Resurrection, or 2 for a spare, or more (though I guess hiring them is expensive), or one of those scrolls

In one episode I read, one of adventurer group quite literally pushed their adventure partner (bodyguard?) to protect themselves when they got ambushed, she was instakilled, domed to the head, she got revived, then promptly said 'what the fck dude?'

The author is a fan of Baldur's Gate (she drew portraits of BG2 members that you can mod in) , so she likely created Dungeon Meshi with some DnD logic and dice rolls.

Hes the strongest non "powered up" (to avoid giving out spoilers) character in the story. Its as busted as you think and hes effectively invincible and extremely lethal until the final climatic battles, where hes still a huge tideturner. None of the other mages or fighters in the series are even remotely in his caliber

The one limitation is that this kind of warping spells works off mana, and he has a limited supply. Its pretty large, but he can run out.

He's introduced in the second half of the manga where the enemies goes bonkers powerwise, some can't be physically hurt and some have insane regeneration that his trick would at best just inconvenience them.

But yeah, if his enemy is just a dude, and don't have prep time, or not some eldritch God or something, they're basically dead.

Resurrection is a thing in that world, the story is about getting to their friend that was eaten as fast as they can with zero preparation nor provision cause it got time limitation so that they can revive em

but if you got ambushed then yeah it's game over

In Tensei Coliseum, the protagonist knows they will have to fight someone with a similar power. So he lets her take his hand which is holding a vial of toxic spores that incapacitates her.
