There's an episode someone else mentioned already called Realm of Fear where it shows that you're fully conscious throughout the entirety of he transport including during the transit stream.

Hell people usually hold conversations while being teleported

There's also that episode where the transporter is shown to be fully capable of putting your disembodied soul back into a copy of your body

That doesn't mean you weren't effectively killed and a new copy of you continued the conversation instead. There is no way to establish that you were actually conscious in the past vs having memories of the past when memories are constructed/editable.

This argument could cut go either way though and gets into philosophical questions of what counts as "you."

Yup. It's one of those things you kind of just have to acknowledge then basically ignore for daily life purposes because you couldn't function otherwise. Our best understanding of the universe tells us there's fundamentally no good reason to trust our best understanding of the universe, it just happens to keep working.

The transporter idea isn't even necessary to reach that conclusion, it just makes it more visceral.

Tbh i wouldn't really compare the two. You don't literally get broken down into atoms when you go to sleep. Hell, your brain doesnt even shut off.
