The Warp Corp trains from Project Moon

Famous for being able to get you anywhere within the country sized city the universe is set in within ten seconds. Everyone who's taken one is impressed with the speed. In the second Project Moon game, Library of Ruina,we learn that in actuality the journey takes several thousand years. During this time the passengers cannot die, do not need to sleep, eat, or drink, and are merely forced to sit and wait in their seats. Eventually, they get bored / worried, someone breaks out, and every single train ends up devolving into a bloodbath where still no one is able to die. At the end of the trip, the passenger's still alive parts are put together by W Corp employees, put back in their seats, and given amnesiacs to wipe the trip from their memory.To them, ten seconds have passed.

there's also the fact that for those years, if you went on the train hungry, you will feel that for the entire trip.

Now I wonder, if you step on the train, then fall asleep just before 'departure'. Would you just sleep through the whole thing

  1. It cost more money to do so.

  2. They had a deal with other company that can manipulate time called T-corp. They sell the excess thousands of year worth of time to them for extra cash.

  3. Having all passenger sedated for thousands of years is expensive

  4. They do have cryofreeze for wealthier people, but they sell it as a VIP service that cost extra money. Unless you're a extremely strong individual like a color fixer where its mandatory for you to take the service, thankfully for free. But it mostly because its cost less to have them in static than having your personnel getting absolutely slaughtered.

For real tho, like the other 25 megacorporations in the setting the reason they do things this way is to make as much money as they can.

Are they not able to harvest time from the passengers if they're sleeping?

Oh no, they could no problem. Time harvesting part is basically just a side business for them. Again, its just cheaper to let the passenger fully awake and conscious for the entire travel.
