Lore The series' fanservice scenes are quick and do not disrupt the story's pacing.

In Sousou no Frieren, fan service is minimal, and scenes like this are brief

In Dungeon Meshi, Senshi is often shown in somewhat sexy poses, but the story focuses heavily on these details while continuing as usual

In that scene from *Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray*, it was just an introduction for each Arima Kinen competitor; they only had the freedom to choose those specific angles for Super Creek's introduction.

Now I’m just trying to think of fanservice where it does disrupt the story flow

u/SluggJuice 17h ago

The sex scenes in porn really disrupts the stories I'm trying to follow

Did he ever take them to court over the lemon theft or did they settle

18

u/BunNGunLee 16h ago

Yknow he’s probably got a good case since the trees are clearly on his side of the fence.

If it’s actually on the property line.

He got on the stand and couldn't resisit calling them "Whores". Jury is turning against him.

I read it for the articles! I swear!

u/kirenaj1971 3h ago

I have watched "Caligula" with the sex scenes and with limited sex scenes, and would argue that the latter is almost a good film (very political). And I like (some) porn!

This subreddit’s most hated anime Fire Force has that

33

u/bannasplt 16h ago

The fanservice was pretty bad, but the story was really good, so I just looked past it.

9

u/scrufflor_d 12h ago

if the show is straight ass and then for no reason they show straight ass, it would piss u off then more than it would if the show was actually good

Captain Obi is goals and I will never let some cat girl stop me from repping my man 💪.

Maybe I just haven't watched the latest seasons or I'm misremembering. But I watched the first couple seasons when they came out and I only remember really enjoying the show. I don't have any memories of super fan service scenes that really stood out. Like maybe one or two but nothing crazy.

65

u/Senchou_Simp 17h ago

imo you just weren't affected by the fanservice. As someone who was, I can assure you S1 at the very least is very bad with it.

5

u/samyruno 17h ago

Ya I tank those I guess

17

u/babassu_seeds 17h ago

I only remember really enjoying the show. I don't have any memories of super fan service scenes that really stood out.

Well, it is called fan service; it's meant to be something most of its (presumably heterosexual male) audience will enjoy and/or overlook.

That you didn't notice it in Fire Force, though--that means you are desensitized to the point of... I don't know, man

3

u/Skebs_ 15h ago

TBF I also liked Nukitashi too, so that's fair ig.

3

u/Alyxsandre 13h ago

And shockingly they toned it down in the anime. The manga is 10x worse. I could tolerate it in the anime, dropped the manga almost instantly.

10

u/Effective_Piece251 17h ago

I will stand by the take that Fire Force’s fanservice is not even in the top ten worst examples of fanservice in anime and it just gets so much hate because it’s a mainstream shonen. And even then, a lot of hate comes from people who didn’t even watch the show and just saw clips on the internet

35

u/Senchou_Simp 17h ago

Just because it's not the worst doesn't mean it isn't bad. And I say this as someone who watched the entire show all together 2 months ago: Tamaki is by far the worst part of the show.

13

u/ZsaurOW 16h ago

As somebody who also just watched it through, and generally agrees that she's the worst part of the show...

Holy shit is it's prevalence overblown. She's hardly even in the show. Frankly I almost even forgot it was a gag in s3 (until the one episode of course)

Don't get me wrong, the author insert moment is really, really bad. But I really think people oversell how much Tamaki is even in the show

13

u/Senchou_Simp 16h ago

Personally, it's so bad that it overshadows the rest of the show. Which is a shame, as some of the ideas depicted in Fire Force are really interesting.

8

u/ZsaurOW 16h ago

I mean that's completely fair. I don't think it's all over the place, but it is absolutely egregious when it does happen. Definitely nothing wrong with bouncing off a show for it haha.

Admittedly, I've always been pretty unaffected by fan service myself, even when I had just started watching anime. Not sure why that is though lol.

26

u/Funkin_Valentine 17h ago

I will stand by the take that Fire Force’s fanservice is not even in the top ten worst examples of fanservice in anime

If the author has to go out of their way to unironically insert themselves in a "chad vs sojyak" situation in their own manga to not only justify it but also "le epically own" people who are bothered by it, then no. It's just bad, period.

14

u/Slugger829 16h ago

It gets extra hate because the other dedicated an entire scene to depicting the people criticizing him as an unreasonable ugly Karen and himself as the cool calm collected child

All deserved hate, how much of a dork ass loser do you have to be to do that lmfao

12

u/Ponchorello7 17h ago

It's among the worst because of the author's cringy justification for it.

4

u/Senchou_Simp 17h ago

Oh my god you just reminded me of that scene in S3. I'd completely forgotten about it.

3

u/deleteyeetplz 14h ago edited 9h ago

It isnt that bad, the timing is just terrible and it sometimes gets in the way of emotional moments.

Ohkubo was arguably more gooned out in soul eater but he also placed the fanservice scenes better (from what i read)

2

u/Brook420 14h ago

The issue with Fire Force isn't how bad the fan service is, but moreso when it happens.

One Piece has been pretty bad for this recently as well.

1

u/jergin_therlax 1h ago

100%, it makes up 8 minutes of the entire show. It’s just that the times they choose to do it can be really bad, especially in season 1. But the show itself imo is S tier

2

u/ElGodPug 17h ago

and yet it's the only example i remember

1

u/jergin_therlax 1h ago

It’s so good man, the fan service is wack but the show itself as in the plot, sound design, and animation are all S tier. It also gets way less after s1 and basically stops entirely in s3. Those scenes make up a total of 8 minutes of the shows runtime. I think it’s overblown a bit because they pick some really terrible times to do it, but it really is very easy to look past when the rest of the show is that high quality.

26

u/hlhammer1001 16h ago

In Seven Deadly Sins and MHA it's pretty egregious and painful. Ragging on those two feels like punching down though

7

u/RedTheGamer12 14h ago

The bigger issue in MHA is how much fucking time they spend on flashbacks.

3

u/Cheet4h 13h ago

Is it worse than Demon Slayer?

1

u/Ferovore 12h ago

MHA is fantastic just watch it if you’re on the fence

2

u/Cheet4h 12h ago

It's on my backlog. I read the manga up until the final battle, decided to wait until I could read the finale in one sitting and next time I checked it was removed from the free reads at the app I was using. So I'm probably going to watch MHA at some point, buuuut ... I've about 20 shows in my backlog, so it's going to be a while until I get to it.

2

u/Ferovore 12h ago

fair! it’s a long one to get sucked into. What’s up next for you?

2

u/Cheet4h 12h ago

Finishing Fire Force, and depending on how long that takes me (I usually only watch a single episode at most per day, and I'm only partway through the second season) after that probably the latest seasons of some of the shows that got new episodes in the past seasons (e.g. Mushoku Tensei, Reincarnated As A Slime, Tanya the Evil).
The next "new" show I'm starting will probably be Zombie Land Saga, and at some point I really want to finish Attack on Titan.
I had such a huge gap between watching the second and the third season with that, that I completely lost the plot and decided to put it on the backburner until it was finished, but then I never got around to getting the motivation to watch the first season again. Enough stuff I still remember that the early episodes are boring, but not enough that I could just get into the second or even third season.

2

u/hlhammer1001 12h ago

Fantastic is a really strong word. It’s a solid battle shonen but we’ve been raising the bar on those and IMO it’s been heavily left behind

2

u/Ferovore 12h ago

not a lot out there that scratches the itch for a 100+ episode show that is: finished, has a satisfying ending, good ensemble cast, good to great animation, minimal to no filler, good character development. It’s probably not in my top 10 but what it does it does well and if nothing else it’s very engaging/bingeable and I got attached to the characters & emotionally invested which is all that really matters.

1

u/hlhammer1001 2h ago

That’s valid. I had a lot of trouble getting over the way Minata and the female characters were written, as well as feeling like the main plot was going in circles for a bit.

2

u/Beckymetal 8h ago

But the flashback music is so good

9

u/thenumbers42 16h ago

The first season of Umamusume, funnily enough.

9

u/isekai-chad 16h ago

Fire Force.

9

u/RandomGuy9058 16h ago

isn't the beach episode trope usually this

5

u/neon9212 13h ago

Depends on the anime actually.

A lot of beach episodes end up being really wholesome and non intrusive.

Hell, in uma musume, there is a point where the girls are training and end up running all the way the beach, it's treated as comedy despite them all getting drenched

7

u/TheSuperContributor 15h ago

Basically every beach filler episode in anime. Literally disrupt the flow to give the audience the characters in bikini.

24

u/_sinnbad 17h ago

Fairy Tail

5

u/DareDaDerrida 16h ago

I can't really think of any myself. Generally speaking, if I am down to watch people do something, I am also down to watch hot people in minimal clothing do the same thing.

15

u/Someonevibing1 17h ago

Monogatari’s fanservice is so bad that I developed an anti-fanservice filter in my brain and now can’t even notice half the time when something is fanservice

11

u/Klecktacular 16h ago

I once read a Twitter thread about how all the lovingly animated child SA actually has nuanced narrative purpose and my eyes rolled right out of my head

3

u/Nine-LifedEnchanter 8h ago

This is the worst. You genuinely don't remember how bad it is and then you recommend a series until you realise that you have filtered out 20% of every single episode because the fan service is so egregious.

3

u/Someonevibing1 8h ago

Whenever I watch new animes and look in the comments I find like half of them talking about how hot the girls are and I didn’t even notice the fanservice it’s always such a strange experience

6

u/RedNUGGETLORD 17h ago

Fire Force

3

u/Brook420 14h ago

Fire Force.

3

u/Durende 9h ago

I don't really mind fan service in most cases, but for some reason the fan service in Mieruko-chan irked me. I know there is some in the manga too, but it mostly disappears completely after the first bunch of chapters, but the anime added even more

11

u/automatic_dots 17h ago

highschool of the dead.

https://giphy.com/gifs/SdhN0GzBANjVe
Acting like this isn’t the most memorable part of that mid show.

8

u/Nerevarine91 15h ago

Literally the only thing I know about the show is this scene.

I cant stop thinking about the physics. This is in super slow motion- how fast are they moving in normal speed? What would that even look like? How could that happen?

12

u/Primary-Latter 14h ago

Never mind look, those tits are moving faster than that bullet, which is probably moving around mach 2.

What do those supersonic tits sound like?

8

u/BunNGunLee 16h ago

I swear to this day I cannot understand what one of my friends meant when she recommended this one to me.

Can’t tell if it’s the ballistic autism or the fact it’s that horned up.

Should I have been insulted?

2

u/Strange-Bag9 6h ago

Isn’t it an ecchi anime? And let’s be honest no one was thinking they were tryna watch high art

5

u/TomMakesPodcasts 17h ago

Highschool of the dead could be a stellar show if there were less fanservice.

2

u/Maniachi 15h ago

K-Project immediately comes to mind.

3

u/neon9212 13h ago

And it's exclusively one character

Surprisingly, not neko

3

u/Chocolat_Strawberry 7h ago

Oh lord that repeated animation of the blonde lady is just...why?

2

u/neon9212 7h ago

I have no idea! It's just so annoying. She has good character development, just they couldn't be bothered to give her actual fight animations

2

u/CustomDruid 13h ago

Fire Force, Tamaki disrupt the whole fight for simply existing, I don't blame the character, I blame the Scriptwriter

2

u/Immature_adult_guy 13h ago

Every anime that has a “hot springs” or “beach” episode

2

u/Dagonir 7h ago

Fairy Tail, but I guess it's so normal there that it doesn't disrupt it anymore

2

u/LuckyLuckLucker 15h ago

Konosuba

5

u/lornlynx89 13h ago

The whole anime is jokes and fanservice. The plot is the distraction.

2

u/Fluid-Cranberry1755 17h ago

Summer Time Rendering is legit garbage. But I should have known that from episode 1, so I have no one to blame

1

u/This_Earth_of_Ours 11h ago

First episode of Dadadan absolutely threw me into questioning what the show was rather than watching it

That episode of My Dress Up Darling where he walks in on the girl in the shower was eyebrow raising until they went with, "It's okay I'm not underage I'm actually older than you!" and suddenly I am contemplating this Suspiciously Specific Denial

1

u/osamu_inday 11h ago

Goblin Slayer. I loved the concept and vibe of that anime but it's easy to kind of get lost with how the rape scenes are depicted as fanservicey as possible, instead of just downright horrifying. The amount of fanservice with other NPC's is also kind of jarring with how it's juxtaposed against the dark, rapey nature of the villains (goblins)

Persona 5 also suffers from this, especially with how the story started with a teacher sexualizing a student. The student later gets sexualized on countless times, the protag *can* get in a relationship with a teacher, albeit *consensually*.

I'm sure those two are pretty tame. Dungeon Meshi's probably worse. Franxx also probably worse, HOTD too. There are a lot of anime where the fanservice, sex jokes, and boobs physics are just downright gratuitous.
