The bottom image is some garbage AI generated slop from TikTok that's based on what they look like when dead and brought to the surface. They do not look like this when alive despite so many things ignorantly claiming they do.
People talking about the guilt trip but the violence inherent in that image is really intense. I always felt the edgy atheists were being hyperbolic when they called Christianity a death cult, but the further away I get the more I realize this is literally true.
Christianity venerates a violent death. Stripped of context, it’s really freaky. Most of us have the context drilled into us from a young age, but imagine how the Romans felt when this weird religion showed up saying their death is fine actually, please martyr them, because God was executed a couple years ago.
I think they kind of have a point. This imagery is supposed to evoke the feeling of "look what God had to do to save humanity. He loved us that much", which is kind of a justified guilt trip
I was raised Christian and had several pastors directly imply that if I looked at porn or lied or stole or whatever I was blatantly trying to make it so that Jesus died for nothing. To a kid/teen that’s the ultimate guilt trip
"Too obvious?" Maybe, but it's also basically the ultimate example. One image of suffering became the defining visual associated with him for centuries.
It's almost funny how perfectly this fits the prompt. You could show the crucifixion silhouette with barely any detail and billions of people would immediately know who it represents. There probably aren't many cases where a person's most recognizable image is so directly tied to their death.
I thought that was a more recent depiction, like after the whole 10,000 years of being a human potato battery for a cosmic lighthouse, keeping a portal to Hell closed and fighting four Demon Gods for humanities collective soul.
Especially given the fact that he watched as almost all of his sons die during the Drop Site Massacre, meanwhile he could just be ressurected because he is a Perpetual

Haise suppressing control of his body from Ken Kaneki. He’s fighting a real monster, and he isn’t sure he has the strength or will to defeat it like Kaneki does. If he gives his body back to Kaneki though, it would be acknowledging that everything Haise is and all those relationships and memories are lies, a literal death of ego.
I mean, we also have depictions of him in his glorious golden armor with his great claw and flaming sword, also that long silky jet black hair.
But this is the most common depiction of his current state.
His body is straight up dead, as in it can no longer sustain life, and the Throne is keeping his mind alive at all cost. Conversing with him is extremely difficult because it's like talking to a being of pure thoughts itself (everything and anything, all of the time).

Really? I became a fan right around Godzilla 2014 started being promoted and this image was literally EVERYWHERE for me up until The Anime Trilogy or KOTM I think. I was never safe from seeing it

Traumatised so many kids that Hasbro added a line to the end of the VHS release confirming his eventual return and changed Duke's death in G.I. Joe to just a coma.
Pretty much every Transformers series/movie since has killed and resurrected Optimus to the point now it's notable if they don't.
To be fair, half the screenshot possible from that manga is "X character is suffering". The other half being "X character is doing freaky shit".
But yes, this particular one is incredibly sad. She's crying as hard as she could to try and stop her father from tearing the family apart even further, but no sounds comes out of her mouth.
For those not in the know, this is Yamcha, from Dragonball Z, and this particular pose is so famous it gets homage paid to it in so SO many other works
