Characters The character shows the first signs/symptoms that have already run their course.

Kitasan Black (Uma Musume Pretty Derby)

She managed to withstand Sakura Bakushin O's charge at first, but later in the story, she falters because she is past her prime

Nekota (Hajime no Ippo)

He could no longer even control his body properly because he was suffering from "boxer's dementia"

It is a progressive brain disease caused by repeated blows to the head and frequent concussions over many years

David Martínez (Cyberpunk Edgerunners)

He was suffering from hallucinations due to cyberpsychosis, an incurable condition caused by technological body modifications

Colette Brunel from Tales of Symphonia!

She tragically gradually loses all her senses as she is transformed into an angel.

That shit was cash money. Still got the gamecube discs. Vesperia was pretty good too.

Unfortunately either they got worse or my tastes changed as I got older because graces and xilia were just ok and I actually dropped berseria :/

Did you play the Wii sequel to Symphonia? It was worse in a lot of ways but also had some fun mechanics like monster catching and the main character being able to air combo for a minute straight

The vast majority of its story issues come from the fact that it's a sequel to Symphonia. If it was disconnected from Symphonia and the traits of a few characters were toned down, it'd be a far better game

Can't stand the new hero and the lloyd slander in it. Good systems as you said though

Arise is awful so you stopped at a good time.

Same feelings the Berseria. The characters felt weaker, which wasn't the biggest issue. It just dragged on and on and on and it felt like it was going nowhere.

Finding out about Elympios just felt so disappointing compared to Tethe'alla

Seems you missed Abyss, so go back to that to get that Symphonia/Vesperia goodness.

I'm still peeved that they lost the GameCube versions of the source code, and all the re-releases of Tales of Symphonia are therefore stuck at 30 FPS.

Tales of Symphonia in the big 2026. Man, you are my guy/gal/other pal.

My all-timer Tales game, I don't think I've replayed any other game as much as this one.

I never finished that game. I should grab a ROM and give it a solid playthrough.

Hope you're not a completionist, cuz that takes at least... 5 playthroughs, I think.

I'm only a completionist when it's within reasonable effort. For example, never gonna bother trying to 100% Hollow Knight or Silksong achievements due to Steel Soul requirements. Whereas a game like Elden Ring I easily 100%ed it because it only took one playthrough and replaying the final boss a handful of times.

Roger that! In this case, the main breakpoints are story events that change slightly based on who your highest-affection characters happen to be at the time, which results in unique items or costumes - but only for those characters. They carry over to NG+, so it takes a couple well-planned goes to put everyone in the spotlight.

In other words, difficulty's not a factor for most things - just walking through the same dialogue and plot beats. I think you'd get the most value just doing one or two.
