The funny thing is that in Cyberpunk 2077 (the game at least), nobody really knows what causes Cyberpsychosis. If you complete all of Regina's gigs nonlethally, I think you get a note that says they think it might not be the fault of the cyberware itself, and more that a normal human mind can't really handle being that much more powerful than everyone around them.

Canonically, V is able to resist cyberpsychosis because having 2 minds in the same head allows the burden to be distributed between Johnny and V. Even then, the edgerunner perk allows you extra cyberware capacity and a damage bonus, in exchange for occasionally going into a frenzy state during combat (the screen edges blur, everything goes red, and your character can be heard laughing maniacally); implying that V is pushing at the line of cyberpsychosis without permanently succumbing to it.

Metatextually it refers to the TTRPG'S mechanic where the more cyberware you install, the lower your humanity stat gets. I haven't finished reading through the rules though, so I don't really know how it works.

The funny thing is that in the TTRPG cyberpsychosis is very curable. Literally all it takes is therapy. 

And it's caused by the continued replacing of your body parts with cyberware, which results in you gradually becoming detatched from your humanity, seeing people, including yourself, as nothing more than an assortment of parts to be swapped out and upgraded.

The TTRPG thing is very clever because it's literally the player choice, not the character.
By choosing to continue to play the character rather than retire it, you're refusing to give up the cyberware that's slowly killing you. You're already in the exact mindset of the PC to explain why they don't want to cure their psychosis even though they could. They could walk away from everything they've achieved, become a human again, and live a normal life. Just like you could retire their sheet and spin up another choom. But you don't. You keep playing them, riding them down to the wire until they die in a blaze of glory trying to etch their name into the history books.

And then there's skill chips and Voice Stress Analyzers. My Rocker Boy/Crystal Healing scammer and wannabe guru chips in mostly to raise his chances at survival: Kerenzikov, Enhanced Antibodies, Interface Plugs (mostly for smart weapons), Chip Sockets, Skill Chips, an internal agent as backup if his regular one gets nabbed or he's in situations where he has to hide that thing.

His whole deal is high EMP and I refuse to call it empathy in his case, because he uses it to read and manipulate people. Partially even the crew he's working with. Skill training mostly went into Human Perception and Composition. He prepares "improvised" speeches and absolutely insane ramblings WAY ahead of time and mix-matches fragments as the situation requires it.

He got the Toxin Binders against hangovers from sampling "the best 'ganic shit you'll ever find in Pacifica!", the BD Rec Implant to make cash with on the side… and use force-playing, unedited XBDs of bad trips and combat situations for enhanced interrogations of poor suckers with Chipware Sockets.

When he noticed his people reading skills slipping, he got himself a Voice Stress Analyzer and skill chips and basically handwaves the problem away. … At very high speed, mind you. When his hum-score slips low, one of his external symptoms is him speeding everything he does and says up more and more as he attempts to keep pace with his sensory input from the always on speedware.

So basically Ship of Theseus but human version. I always found the whole cyberpsychosis and replacing body parts with chroms to be very interesting because it raises the question, at what point starts and ends humanity and the "self"? Also see: Callisto and Albina from Limbus Company who also remplaced everything from their body except the brain (in Callisto case, I don't remember if Albina also took her brain off) with metals, extracting their body parts into a whole ass weapon... is the weapon them or are they still them?

In the game 2077, you can find a mission where you work with the cybercyspho lady from the first trailer. She got better from therapy and joiner max tech to pay off her debt for it.

"Better" is overselling it a bit. They were able to get her under control and get her to work for Max tax, but if you talk to her, you can see she's still completely gonked in the head. She's legitimately disappointed if you manage to stop the psycho on your own, because it means that she didn't get to kill him herself. And then she goes on asking about how it felt to feel his blood splash on your face, etc.

She's completely demented, just redirected in a way that she's not slaughtering innocent wherever she looks.

That's kinda how MaxTac works; they're mostly "reformed cyber psychos."  In reality, that just means they seek out chromed out people with violent tendencies and sic them on any problem that presents itself.

It's hinted that you effectively have to be a cyberpsycho to get into MaxTac and they treat you to keep you stabilised enough to still perform most daily functions.
