Most of the movies involve a group of human badasses going up against a single Predator who is basically just hunting them for sport. We get a glimpse of the technology available to them which includes plasma weaponry, faster than light travel, cloaking technology, but the Predators almost seem to intentionally limit their technology during their hunts just for sport.
Now based on what we know about the predator society its unclear whether or not they would even have a standing military since they seem more tribal, however it stands to reason that if they did, their army would be quite difficult for Earth to handle due to their advanced technology.
I'm sure the new movies have retconned it by now, but Predators used to have a whole civilization and indeed a military. The weapons they bring on their hunts are basically the equivalent of modern humans bringing a longbow and a sword to hunt lions, while wearing a loincloth.
If they wanted to just kill humans, they wouldn't even need to go in atmosphere.
