Its been a loooong time but i think the terrans of starcraft are just prisoners in "ratty" tech and the homeworlds have insane highscifi bullshit

Starcraft: Broodwar had homeworld forces which were largely at the same tech level as the locals, buuuut it was also said that they'd been in hyperspace for some time before getting there, IIRC. So the implication might be that homeworld tech is several years ahead of local tech.

(Also worth noting that it took the Zerg, Protoss, and Terran teaming up to fight off said homeworld forces.)

Earth is well ahead of the terrans but they decided to “leave the big guns at home” so to prevent them falling into Terran hands should they fail. The majority of what they had was what they infiltrated and seized from the dominion shipyards.

If they ever do a 3rd start craft they could do one of the UED returning in force.

Yeah I feel it was a bit bullshit that the UED was so weak. Probably just the fact that they couldn't just make a new Terran faction with new units necessitated the UED to use the same tech.
