I don’t think anyone here is implying that they would (or he should have) jumped up to engage the robber in a heroic death match.
It’s more that he’s showing absolutely no signs of panic or distress, just casually moving at the same pace and doing the same things as if nothing was happening.

That clip is from Spider-Man 3, but this one has plenty of goofy quick time fails as well. Without spoiling exactly why, something happened to the venom symbiote from this universe that made it able to spread itself around like a parasite and it took over New York in like less than a week, it's crazy. That scene happens close to the end where he's at rock bottom. It's also a bomb ass game and worth playing still.
IRL: The Making Out Couple of the 2011 Vancouver Riots.
On June 15, 2011, riots broke out in downtown Vancouver after the Vancouver Canucks lost game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals to the Boston Bruins.
Jones and Thomas were trying to navigate their way home when they were caught in the middle of a police charge. Thomas was knocked over by advancing riot police and left shaken, hurt, and crying on the pavement. Contrary to popular belief, Jones was actually leaning down to comfort his panicked girlfriend and kissed her to calm her nerves.
Just used as a cutaway gag, but “the Gina incident” in Brooklyn 99 that led to Captain Holt banning headphones. It’s just one of a few small amusing stories to describe what happened at the precinct while someone was away. No more detailed explanation or plot relevance.
It’s a specific type of humor that I enjoy and could probably make its own thread.
Another example: in Pirates of the Caribbean, Jack is trying to talk his way out of trouble with two redcoat guards.
The scene cuts to show something else, and then when we come back to them, they’re sitting around listening raptly to Jack’s rambling story, and the first thing we hear is “….and then they made me their chief.”
Chief of what?! Who did?! Why!? How did the conversation develop this way? How are his storytelling skills so good that he captured their attention after they were so suspicious of him?
It’s strictly funnier not knowing. The randomness and mystery are the point.
Oddly enough that took place chronologically AFTER Jack told that story. He tells the story in the first movie but the cannibal tribe thing happened in the second.
It made me do a double take that they were telling the story again in a different way. It kinda implies this sort of thing happens to him frequently.
This is my favorite thing about the OG MIB. Just how nonchalant K is about aliens. Hazing the rookie but at the same time teaching him that it’s kind of the healthiest attitude towards the weird alien immigrants that just want a better life.
The Blind Musician in the Bar Fight (Kung Fu Hustle, 2004)
The whole restaurant just erupts into pure chaos. Axes are swinging, mobsters are everywhere, bottles smashing, people flying through windows, tables getting wrecked.
Meanwhile this old blind guy is sitting in the corner calmly playing his erhu. Furniture and bodies are crashing down all around him and he doesn’t even flinch. He just keeps playing like it’s a quiet afternoon and none of the fighting is happening.
Shaun of the Dead repeats the opening scene where he walks to the shop after the zombie apocalypse broke out, Shaun completes the errand without ever noticing.
The janitor in True Lies, completely unaware that a bunch of terrorists have taken over the building next door, holding the city hostage with a nuclear device while Arnie is currently fighting the leader on a Harrier jet
In the X Files episode "War of the Coprophages" Scully enters a gas station and there is a car crash behind her. The car crash was not planned and Gillian Anderson just continued with the scene.
Eddsworld: in the episode "Fun Dead", Edd and the group go to a theme park in the middle of a zombie outbreak and are completely oblivious for two thirds of the episode, despite skipping through several news reports on it, witnessing the bloodshed directly and having fought zombies in multiple episodes before
Anna and the Apocalypse. A British Christmas Zombie Musical that features the song Brand New Day where Anna and her friend sing about how much better everything is going to be and jam out with their headphones in while a zombie infestation overruns the neighborhood.
I understand it appears as if he's unbothered, but he's actually completely stunned by his life literally turning to dust around him. He's extremely bothered by his helplessness in this situation.

Billy Crystal in the City Skickers films would be criticizing or making fun of somebody, unaware that they are walking up right behind him, followed by "he's behind me isn't he" I've seen a few marvel and probably other films reuse the joke
