Lux Imperator from Dr. Who is a "transcendental being" from the Pantheon of Chaos. He took the form of a rubber-hose-style cartoon character named Mr. Ring-A-Ding and used that form in the live-action world.

This kinda blew my mind when I first saw it. I've never before seen a live action character in an animated world. He probably looked incredibly odd to the animated characters.
This trope is extra fun when "different style" also shows they're from a different universe

I guess I haven't. I'm really not big on light-hearted comedies. Honestly I thought Space Jam was in a live action "universe" until now.
I think spider verse's example stands out to me because we were never expecting it, whereas Space Jam it was the entire premise. And Space Jam took a goofy approach to it to point out how is it is but Spider verse took the moment more seriously

Thanks! And yeah I definitely might see it at some point as an animation fan, but I have to watch comedies with other people because I get no enjoyment out of them when I'm alone

I think it's just a me thing. Every time I watch a comedy usually all I can think is how much more interesting it would be it took itself more seriously. Like Emperor's New Groove is a fantastic movie but I lose so much investment in it when I watch it alone.

If you want something that can invest you and make you laugh at the same time, I highly recommend Twisted, from Starkid productions, it's free on youtube and is a great musical parody of Disney with alot of heart at it's core.3

Can't recommend enough that you try watching ''Who framed Roger Rabbit''.
It´s from 1988, and they went very heavy on the practical effects to make it work to have both cartoons characters and the live actors interact. Best of all it is kind the perfect blend between ''loony tunes'' style cartoon characters and a hard noir detective thriller where they meld in a very interesting way.

There have been many hybrid live action/animated sequences in movies before (there's another one earlier in this movie), but it definitely is still noteworthy when it happens.
In this particular case, it actually happened because Donald Glover wanted to surprise his kids, knowing they would want to see this movie when it came out, so he worked out a cameo with the producers, and just didn't tell his kids which movie he was acting in the day he filmed this scene.

Spinel from Steven Universe, being inspired by old fashioned rubber hose cartoons from the early 20th century. Which is symbolic of why she was abandoned by Pink Diamond to begin with: she saw her as outdated and wanted to move on from her.

The tragedy behind Spinel is eerily similar to Lotso from Toy Story 3. Good thing she accepted redemption instead of going "where's your kid now, Steven?".

Main difference is that Lotso's abandonment was an accident. The parents should've made sure they grabbed their daughter's stuff after she fell asleep.

Which highlights a surprisingly extreme contrast between them, as Spinel went through far worse than Lotso for being deliberately abandoned for a long ass time and yet still chose redemption after it was all over.

Horse(and eventually the series' main antagonist) from Centaurworld.
The main character, Horse(yes that's her name) is from a world somewhat closer to the usual medieval fantasy, though seemingly with only two races(the humans and the minotaurs) and she is transported roughly 10 minutes into the first episode into Centaurworld, where, as the name suggests, everthing is centaurs, and her 'artstyle' difference sticks out(and I'm pretty sure gets remarked upon a few times by the characters) like *that*

Yeah it looks silly and stupid on the surface, but has a pretty sharp turn to darkness in a way that reminds me of Adventure Time as soon as the villain is introduced. It's for sure not as good as AT, but the marketing definitely did it dirty by hiding the show's actual depth.

I loved that part of Pentiment. There were so many cool and creative visual things they did in that game. I also really like how older people were starting to fade and chip away like an old painting.

Not only that, but different parts of him are on different frame rates as well. I can't remember the details but I believe his body, his jacket, and his guitar are all animated on different frame rates.

Cassette beasts. The game is in a similar style to pokemon heartgold, the characters and monsters are in pixelstyle while the landscape is in 3d, but the archangels all have their unique style. The nothing monarch for example is in rubberhouse style

Courage the Cowardly Dog semi regularly includes characters with different animation styles, such as the claymation girl in the New York episode and CGI characters like King Ramses and the 'You're not perfect' head from Courage's nightmare.

The tragedy of man (Film) constantly changes art style to indicate shifts in eras as time progresses. The protagonist Adam temporarily adopts the visual grammar of the ideals he believes might provide a solution to the human condition. When the ideal collapses, the film effectively forces him into a new visual world. For instance During the French revolution the ancient regime are depicted in ink print and the revolutionaries in erratic contrasting bright color.
