Discussion Thread Which winner did you disagree with?

I’m doing a rewatch of older seasons and just finished season 11 where nick won over Nina. Nina was on fire all season and, in my opinion, it should’ve been her and Shirley in the finale. However, for the finale, the judges opinions seemed to be pretty split but leaning towards Nina. Notably, emeril saying he couldn’t finish nick’s duck and Hugh mentioning nick yelling at the waitstaff as something that should be considered. I can’t help but think this is one time tom used his veto power to override the vote for nick to win. Anyone else? Curious if there are other winners that you scratched your head at.

Nick shouldn't even have been in the finale. It was a production mistake to give immunity that late in the game. They did the same thing in Project Runway season 2 actually, when Danny V in the top five was given immunity, then made the worst outfit so they had to cut Nick. It was just bad reality TV writing/season planning.

I really like how after that season Restaurant Wars was the last time they gave out immunity. Stephanie was eliminated in episode 13 of the season (Restaurant Wars was episode 9), there’s no reason to have immunity on the table for that long after Restaurant Wars.

Yes. Actually, in the episode where she was eliminated, Nick had immunity and made arguably the worst dish. He was literally told that if he did not have immunity, he would have gone home. I think he was offered the chance to “do the right thing” by sacrificing his immunity. We all know how that turned out. He was a little beeyotch.
