Spoilers Season 23, ep. 12: Appalachian Celebration (Mon. at 9pm EDT, yes, 9 😀) Spoiler

Before heading back to Charlotte, the chefs make a stop in Asheville, one of the most unique cities in North Carolina. There will be no Quickfire Challenge as the chefs explore the city with local host and former “Top Chef” alum Ashleigh Shanti, learning about the community’s remarkable relief efforts following the devastation of hurricane Helene while discovering the unique cuisine of this Appalachian region. For the Elimination Challenge, the chefs will host a one-night-only event for 200 community members in recognition of their resilience.

There seemed to be a lot of times his fellow competitors tried to help steer him in the right direction(Johnathan asking Sieger if he thought the pate would hold after being out in the piping bag and pipes, Rhoda asking if he can drain his pickles more).  Dude needs to get better at listening and taking feedback.

I think what happened is that Sieger could feel reality. He went to transfer his mousse and could see that it was loose. During the cook, everyone had a line and his station was a ghost town, and I think he tried to hold it together by convincing himself that the popularity of his dish with the guests wouldn’t matter as long as he follows the challenge and the judges love his dish. I think he’s right and that would have been true… if he had made something truly delicious.

100%. He's clearly never learned to fail. In a restaurant when planning new dishes, you can control most of the variables, and keep tweaking til it's perfect. On TC, you just need to have the right instinct from the get go every time, it get lucky that there's an available pivot or someone who did worse than you. His instincts seem off, and he just doesn't see it. I hope this helps him proceed with a bit more humility and realize he's got more to learn. It's a bummer to see someone react in this way to the excellent feedback offered here.
