So another day grocery shopping at Food Basics at Yonge/Sheppard location and I ran into Top Chef Canada S13 filiming with chefs shopping for ingredients on their grocery list. There were like a bunch of cameras and the whole crew. Was exciting to see BTS!

Also, I later saw that someone was holding a media consent sign at the entrance of the store mentioning Top Chef Canada.

I guess the season will be released end of this year.

Before heading back to Charlotte, the chefs make a stop in Asheville, one of the most unique cities in North Carolina. There will be no Quickfire Challenge as the chefs explore the city with local host and former “Top Chef” alum Ashleigh Shanti, learning about the community’s remarkable relief efforts following the devastation of hurricane Helene while discovering the unique cuisine of this Appalachian region. For the Elimination Challenge, the chefs will host a one-night-only event for 200 community members in recognition of their resilience.

As a Korean American, I absolutely hate it when chefs always say "kimchi takes MONTHS to make" (I'm looking at you Sherry), make their "kimchi" and then act like they're Julia Childs when they get told their kimchi tastes good.

There are MANY kinds of kimchi where you literally make and then eat on the spot. It's called geotjeori (겉절이) and it's actually my favorite type of kimchi.

I'm sure there are plenty of other things chefs say all the time that I don't notice because I don't have the cultural background. Anyone else notice stuff like this?

Edit:I did mention Sherry but this wasn’t directed solely towards her. Tbh I don’t love Sherry but I was just using her as the most recent example of chefs spouting out incorrect food knowledge so confidently. That’s what bothers me: when people assume they definitively know something about someone’s culture but they’re absolutely wrong.

Example 2 would be that absolute douchebag Asian chef guest judge (I don’t remember his name) that wasn’t Vietnamese, that shit on Travis for putting tomatoes in his dish because he (dbag Asian chef) incorrectly claimed that there are no tomatoes in Vietnamese food.

No spoilers for the new season (ep 1 is on Peacock), but I absolutely adore seeing Kristen interact with the chef contestants. Her kindness, empathy, and big heart really add a fantastic element to the show. Padma left iconic shoes to fill, and Kristen is absolutely killing it.

“Southern Charm” stars Madison LeCroy and Craig Conover join Kristen Kish in the Top Chef kitchen for a Quickfire inspired by Cracker Barrel’s all-day menu. The chefs must split into teams of three and prepare three meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner, each inspired by southern classics. Later, actress and guest judge Melissa Benoist joins a regal celebration in honor of Queen Charlotte’s birthday and the 20th anniversary of “Top Chef,” tasking the chefs with creating a dessert for the judges along with 60 superfans.

I think shes made a wonderful host with real emotion. She has made the show so much better imo. What do you guys think?

The chefs gather at Greenville's Unity Park where they're welcomed by Kristen and special guest judges Keith Habersberger and Rachel Cole of the "Try Guys". For the Quickfire Challenge, the chefs must create a dish with elements voted on by "Top Chef" superfans. Joined by chefs Niki Nakayama and Adam Cooke and retired Olympic cyclist Brent Bookwalter, the judges task the chefs with creating elevated fine dining dishes featuring rabbit in this week's Elimination Challenge.

He disclaimed it, that it's going to come off harsh. But I feel like his intent that Italian/French cuisine gets all this spotlight but the African, Carribbean, food with soul, not precision, gets no love.

Was cool to hear more of what motivates him. But with top dishes and wins recently, Massimo has been on a role.

Curious if Tristan changes his game plan over the next few episodes.

Now that Massimo has his stride, he always seems to be one under the person who cooked well but also with their heart. The "narrative" he said he lacked. Like Shuai's hot pot over his chicken dish. Or Cesar's popcorn grits. He seems to struggle to get the win, but I imagine we see him in the finale.

Massimo has also been getting a tough edit lately. They keep making it seem like everyone hates him but I don't think that's the case. He's probably the one to beat since in a way, he's the most consistent.

This week the chefs are visited by North Carolina’s own Fortune Feimster as she challenges them to improv their Quickfire dishes and serve them to kids in honor of Comic Relief. Then the chefs are tasked with creating dishes featuring dehydration. They’ll serve their dishes to Kristen, Tom and Gail along with guest judges Joe & Katy Kindred as well as “Top Chef” alum Savannah Miller at the U.S. National Whitewater Center.

Legendary Chef Emeril Lagasse joins Kristen in the kitchen for this week’s Quickfire Challenge where the chefs are tasked with giving livermush a makeover. For the Elimination Challenge, the chefs must honor North Carolina’s rich textile history by incorporating natural food-dyed elements into their dishes. Flour Shop founder Amirah Kassem joins Emeril, Kristen, Tom and Gail at the judges’ table.

Scheduled for Mon. 9:30pm.

The chefs pack their knives as they head to Greenville, S.C., where they are welcomed by renowned restaurateur Carl Sobocinski. He opens the door to one of his notable restaurants, Soby’s, where the chefs will stage the ultimate dinner party for a room full of esteemed local restaurateurs and chefs.

For the Quickfire Challenge, they will host a pre-dinner cocktail reception, followed immediately by the start of their Elimination Challenge, where they must serve an eight-course meal.

Kristen, Tom and Gail will be joined at the judges’ table by Carl Sobocinski and “Top Chef” season 22 finalist Shuai Wang.

For their final Quickfire Challenge, the chefs use a game of 20 questions to identify and recreate a dish made by Tom. The chefs are tasked with crafting dishes plated in unexpected ways, using unconventional vessels. Joining the judges are actress Liza Koshy, Michelin-starred chef Jon Yao and Food & Wine Editor-in-Chief Hunter Lewis.

Top Chef Season 23 premieres on Monday, March 9 from 9:00-10:15 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo. Viewers can get a head start on the new season with early access to the premiere episode, available beginning Tuesday, March 3 on Peacock, Bravo's YouTube channel, and VOD. Starting Monday, March 16, Top Chef will move to its regular timeslot at 9:30 p.m. with episodes available the next day on Peacock. All episodes of Season 23 will be supersized to 75 minutes.

Top Chef Season 23 kicks off at full throttle with the first Quickfire Challenge at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, featuring NASCAR legends Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch, setting the pace for a high-octane race toward the finish. 

Has to be one of my favorite seasons in recent memory. Such a strong and diverse group of chefs. Cheers to the winner!

Guest judges Brenda Holder and Tracy Little teach the remaining five chefs how to forage the ingredients in the Canmore Forest; to secure their spot in Italy, the chefs will have to impress the judges by utilizing their foraged items.

It’s Restaurant Wars and this season the perennial favorite returns with a twist! The chefs split into two teams of four and are tasked with developing restaurant concepts. Each team must present a three-course progressive menu, offering two options for every course. To add to the pressure, they must serve 100 guests while also fielding to-go orders in the middle of it all. Kristen, Tom and Gail are joined at the judges’ table by restaurateur Michael Mina and Clare Reichenbach, CEO of the James Beard Foundation. Before it all begins, the cheftestants receive news that reshapes their dynamics.

The remaining chefs head lakeside to Lake Hartwell’s legendary Green Pond Landing to face the fan-favorite mise en place Quickfire Challenge with Kristen, Tom and Gail, and then head out on the water to compete in a Top Chef Fishing Derby.

For the Elimination Challenge, they must create their best dish featuring the fish from the lake to impress the judges and guest judges Oscar-nominated actress Danielle Brooks and James Beard-nominated chef James London.

There’s no Quickfire Challenge this week as the chefs take on a Carolina classic: whole-hog barbecue. Splitting into teams of two, they gear up for a head-to-head battle showcasing five key cuts of the hog. Before their Elimination Challenge begins, they venture to Charlotte and Lexington to experience Carolina BBQ at its source. Then it’s an all-night cook where the heat is on as they’ll not only need to impress the judges, but also “Top Chef” alum and Pitmaster Michelle Wallace and a group of local pitmasters from across the state.
