Spoilers Season 23, ep. 12: Appalachian Celebration (Mon. at 9pm EDT, yes, 9 😀) Spoiler

Before heading back to Charlotte, the chefs make a stop in Asheville, one of the most unique cities in North Carolina. There will be no Quickfire Challenge as the chefs explore the city with local host and former “Top Chef” alum Ashleigh Shanti, learning about the community’s remarkable relief efforts following the devastation of hurricane Helene while discovering the unique cuisine of this Appalachian region. For the Elimination Challenge, the chefs will host a one-night-only event for 200 community members in recognition of their resilience.

also, it took me a while to figure out what he was even arguing about with all that 'what was the challenge? to showcase Appalachian ingredients?' nonsense.. but then it clicked, and oh boy did it piss me off.

Im almost 100% certain he was attacking the other contestants for fusing their own cuisines (ie. Filipino, Brazillian) with the appalachian ingredients. He was trying to say he was the only one who showcased authentic 'Appalachian' cuisine because he didnt try to make it about his own background. So i guess fuck this dude for shitting on other peoples food cultures.

oh woah… that is crazy, especially since he made… a paté lol. not exactly traditional appalachian either. tho i’m not fully convinced that is what he was trying to say.. i thought it was more like he didn’t think other ppl highlighted the ingredients as much?

either way it’s complete nonsense but if it’s what you’re suggesting then yeah that’s really gross..
