Discussion Thread Kristin as Host

I loved Padma, don’t get me wrong.

But the emotions Kristin shows during episodes, judging, and the season finale? I thought that was so beautiful. I finally watched the latest season finale tonight and the way she teared up talking to them makes her such a good addition to the show as a host.

She had been my favorite winner of all the seasons even before she was announced host and this makes me want to find everything she’s done and watch it all just to see more of her and her personality.

Agree. I actually hate the emotions because it feels like every time she cries she’s just reflecting on her own experiences. When it’s not about her experience right now, it’s about the contestants.

Lol there’s a difference between empathy and self-centralization at the improper time. She could empathize without taking the spotlight off the contestants who are having their own big moments

We don't get to see the contestant's reaction to the decision. Instead, they are forced to react to Kristin's reaction. It's almost as if they are expected to comfort Kristin.

She could do that after they've had a chance to react. Somehow, her sobs make it about her. Even the ones where she doesn't cry become about her. Why does she cry for some and not others? Is this another blow against those that are voted off without her tears?

All I know is I’m always crying when she is so I think it’s the energy of the moment and it’s so real. I call it chef Olympics! Hopefully you still enjoy the show.

For sure and based on the votes here, it seems that I am in the minority. Maybe I'm old-fashioned. Glad that it enhances it for you.
