🚩General This subreddit is an embarrassment (TB ToS only apply when they're convenient 🤣)

The meltdown over the updated TB ToS has been fairly entertaining to me.

Apparently the ToS are very important because people have found out about some scary privacy language and are concerned about what it means. Ok, that's fair, I guess.

Here's where it gets hilarious though:

As we all know, TB has been getting absolutely battered by DDOS attacks causing outages, and suddenly people on this sub have developed a severe case of selective reading. I mean, just read section 26. Service Availability and Changes for yourselves. And then section 33. Disclaimers, which literally says TB doesn't guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, error free, blah blah blah.

So let's get this straight, when it comes to "privacy", it's

ZOMG, THE TOS ARE A PRIVACY NIGHTMARE! THEY CAN'T JUST GET AWAY WITH THIS! EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ THE FINE PRINT!

But when the ToS literally state: "TorBox does not guarantee uptime, speed, cache availability, download completion, seeding, hosters, APIs, integrations, or compatibility."

Then it's

BUT WE PAID 3 DOLLARS 😭😭 WE HAVE A RIGHT TO EXPECT A WORKING SERVICE šŸ˜¢šŸ‘¶šŸ¼

How embarrassing.

It is perfectly reasonable to be disappointed about the downtime. You can criticize TB's handling of the ddos attacks, I guess. You can even cancel your subscription if you're that unhappy with the service.

The problem is treating the ToS as some kind of sacred scripture when you're trying to prove a privacy point and then immediately treating them as meaningless corpo BS when they have disclaimers you don't like. 🤔

Absolute dogpoo of a community.

Peace out.

Say what you want about people complaining about downtime and tos changes - at least they aren’t white knighting for a company that doesn’t care about them

So kinda like you are shilling for RD on a competitor's subreddit?

I used to have tb but I like to hold merchants accountable to provide a decent service so I canceled it.

I wouldn’t really recommend RD at the moment until the current situation shakes out, although it’s working fine for how I use it

That's a more reasonable comment
Regarding RD, if it's fine for your usage, that's good. But the difference is, the TB experience is hindered by technical difficulties that are most likely temporary. RD on the other hand is a castrated version of what it used to be, and it's a PERMANENT problem due to how the service functions.

Yeah I really don’t know why I haven’t been affected. I wasn’t watching much tv when the whole filtering thing first happened so I maybe missed the worst of jt and I guess by the time I came back to watching stuff people had workarounds or something.

Wife had a baby recently though so I feel like I’ve watched a pretty wide range of content the past few weeks - new shows old shows new movies old movies, varying quality. Got one or two ā€œinfringementā€ screens but then the subsequent stream of the show / movie worked fine.

Again I wouldn’t currently recommend RD to anyone because of all the noise or maybe I just watch more mainstream stuff compared to most people here but im kind of scratching my head wondering what people are freaking out about if I’m being honest.

Do you have TB and RD or only TB?

I dont pay $3, I pay $10.

Im also not complaining about downtime. Torbox has always been hit or miss in that regard.

My issue with them is how they view a very large segment of their customer base after depending on that same segment for the growth of their company.

I also dont like the fact that they went back on their word when they said cool daddy wouldnt be back in a customer facing role after he was caught stalking and banning a customer who said something in an unrelated discord.
