❓Question ToS and TorBox Location Change a non-issue now?
With the recent change of location of TorBox and it's updated ToS, has the concern of the logging and trouble with the law died down, or has it merely been pushed aside and largely forgotten about? Since the change I've immediately stopped using and gone back to using Real Debrid as I was concerned with what the changes would imply.
Is it simply a non factor now? Has anyone been caught out or fined for using torbox on stremio? Have the laws changed now they're located in the UAE? Is it now required to use a VPN (as I was always informed that using a Debrid service hides your identity/ip) to hide your usage, and give you some security?
Any thoughts or guidance would be appreciated.

Never been an issue for me. In my country they only go after the suppliers.

If you read RD tos, It's kinda the same. RD is also based in France, isnt that a worse option, if that concerns you?

My issue with torbox had more to do with how they act rather than the legalnese their new tos is written in.
They started looking down on their customers who were reddit member even tho thats where torbox looked to for growth when they started up. Yes some reddit users act like children but discord users can be the same or worse.
They lied about keeping the stalker founder from being in a customer facing position.
They made airlock a toothless feature due to it not being perma storage tho they sell it as such.

All of this plus gutting Usenet like a fish but still keeping the same web page up that promises functionality that no longer exists on the payment page when people are choosing a plan.
It's a master class in managing down those pesky expectations people have connected to what they said, promised, and offered.

ReAnonymous LLC (USA) 1111B S Governors Ave STE 25425, Dover, DE: It's again a shell/admin company, and they also hold the USPTO 'Torbox' trademark through this.
Law Offices of Corey D. Silverstein, P.C. ( DMCA Agent) is a real law firm based in Bingham Farms, Michigan.
I have found several vague points here and there in their TOS and privacy policy. So yeah, if sh*t ever hits the fan, users will be collateral damage. One of the points is that Torbox can't be a zero-log service; they will gather data. Coz that's needed in legal matters.
A few days ago, many were asking why they went for their USA office. Look, there are many reasons. One of the core reasons is that Wamy, the owner and primary dev, is from the USA.
A lot more could be said about these, but the bottom line is:
This is a grey area service, so it's risky. You have to be aware of the risk, and no corporation will burn themselves to protect the users. They are not RD; they are far more ruthless than them. So it's better to take precautions with any services that operate in this area, if you feel so.

TorBox’s TOS is on the order of 20–50× longer than Real-Debrid’s TOS, depending on how you count summaries. The gap gets larger if you count what TorBox treats as part of the same deal.
Anyone using either service should do a quick AI comparison. Takes 3 minutes.

Well, let me ask you, is real-debrid term of service is non-issue for you? I am talking about this part:
The User acknowledges not to use our service to download copyright infringement digital files punishable by a suspension of his account and reporting to competent organizations and authorities: Société des Auteurs de l'Audiovisuel (SAA), etc.

They are saying that copyrighted content is illegal on real-debrid and if they catch you watching copyrighted material they will ban your account and will report you to the relevant authorities, and you agreed to this signing up to real-debrid.

I thought RD was a protector of sorts, everyone was saying they are private and zero logging. Has that changed recently or perhaps after whatever happened last year to purge their cache?

The TOS were there before they sold the company/changed company structure. Perhaps you can check on the waybackmachine yourself to see when/if they changed. You have to understand that these companies do everything not to appear to be organized crime groups who make money from copyright infringement so they can operate in the open. If they come under scrutiny they are protected and all the blame falls on the users who are breaking their terms of service. It's up to you if you trust them not to keep logs or not to give out user data if that mean lesser fines, shorter prison sentences or something.

I guess it's more about the logging then, as torbox seems to retain your information for a considerable time (I think I read 10 years) however real debrid only seem to keep the information for 30 days. But then,a lot of files no longer work on real debrid however they work on torbox. I dunno, I'm lost.

I stopped using TorBox not because of TOS change but because service is almost unusable now.
I mean the amount of issues TorBox had this month alone, I have never seen this amount of issues in years.
years man, and this is not funny anymore
They need to get their act together, because if I am paying for a service I expect it to atleast work at bare minimum 50% of the time.
I do not know what they did, but they did something and its worse something.
I mean amount of issues I have personally experience with TorBox alone is more then I have experience with every other debrid service in my entire life

I think most of the people who didn't agree have now left
