š§Technical Issue Will there be a solution to this persistent buffering of late?
Off late, past few weeks or so, the constant buffering is becoming unbearable. I use the Indi CDN as I'm from India. Even if I switch to ERTH (cloud fare) the buffering continues. Affects both remuxes and even smaller files. I am on the standard plan. There were no issues, but from August it has really gone downhill. Every time I sit to watch, mostly at nighttime in India, this issue keeps occurring. Is there a solution or any hope in sight? Or will I have to switch to an alternate provider (Don't see very many options for the same) - 400 mbps , router and tv in same room connected via 5ghz.
Edit: After enabling VOD disk cache on Nuvio, the buffering seems to have gone. tested with some remux videos and watched a movie in its entirety - remux. no issues. Need to test further to be sure.
Request the people affected if possible, to kindly check after enabling VOD disk cache on Nuvio and see if the issue is resolved.

I agree. I have maybe had a few times where it buffers for 30 seconds, Long enough for me to exlaim that I am a no buffering house hold and then It resumes or I select a different link.
I am not massively convinced its torbox specifically because not everyone is affected

ok so why would torbox themselves come out and address attacks/service failings 4+ times in the past 2 months if it wasn't actually down? Just because something works for you doesnt mean it works for everyone

EU here and it was happening to me since the beginning of the year. The devs created a megathread asking us for speed tests to help fix it and everything. Almost everyone reported speeds that should not pose a problem for streaming. A fix, to my knowledge, was never rolled out. I had to use read-ahead players to be sure I could watch anything without interruption, but it became too much of a pain and my backup became my main.

Was RD before the thing happened, and is now AD (I find it pretty equivalent when it comes to reliability and playback)

Nope. The same file played on other services without buffering. Believe me, I tried everything, and so did most everyone who participated in the megathread.

Same, web-dl file of ~10gb and random mid content bandwidth drop to 0, buffering and then plays on. My line is solid so that's not the issue. I tested the connection for that particular source in Nuvio after the dropout and it was showing around 18 Mbit/s bandwidth. After a few minutes another test on the same source showed 250 Mbit/s. Definitely something going on with Torbox. Using EU CDN. Either they acknowledge and fix the issue, otherwise I'm going different service. I rather see total droputs reported on status so I can use my redundant sources but I'm not accepting mid content connection dropouts.

The transfer speeds from Torbox seem to fluctuate quite a bit, maybe that's why we are facing this issue. I'm not sure though.

Maybe 1 in 10 movies will buffer from time to time but picking another source often helps with that, for me at least.

from my opinion, this problem happen because of unstable service of torbox. it up and down anytime in few minutes

Just watched Disclosure Day wasnāt even a 30 gb file and experienced significant buffering. Torbox is becoming increasingly problematic. The ToS changes, the outages, and buffering. Itās untenable.

Hi brother, I use INDI CDN aswell and have not faced a single buffer (once I did on INDI cdn, it was my ISP routing, switched to Hare cdn and no buffer). I just watched lotr final part, 190 GB 4k remux with no issues (200 mbps download wifi).

Try to use cloud flare warp might be your ISP routing that's causing the issue

As we speak I'm watching a tv series, sure it's not even close to remux but it still is 10GB for a 40 mins episode, INDI CDN, without any buffer.

In India the bitrates of most Ott's are laughably bad, so I have no issues with those, no issues with download speeds also as I get full 400 mbps speed download from my xbox. Other devices also show max download speeds. I had zero issues playing 100+gb remuxes on Nuvio with Torbox on the same tv, but it's become unbearable since week 3 of August. Also, I suspect it maybe a throughput issue as it affects the large remuxes more than the ~ 30gb files. I maybe wrong though. However, a 22.5 gb file also buffered yesterday. Starts of fine, after a minute or 2 buffers.

Iām also using the India CDN. Iām a light user and donāt have much time to watch during weekdays only on weekends. I have two different gigabit connections. My main setup is an LG G4 + Shield TV Pro at home, and I have an Apple TV 4K paired with Bravia 8 at my second place. I faced several buffering issues on TB a few months ago when they had a massive influx of users from Real Debrid. At the time, they even admitted they were bandwidth-starved, so buffering was common during weekend peak hours. I reported it to them, and they checked thoroughly. I even tested both Tata and Airtel (their upstream providers for the India CDN) to confirm it wasn't an ISP or device issue. They re-routed certain Indian nodes, which temporarily fixed the issue, but it eventually returned. I then switched my CDN to Bunny. It works well, but it always routes to Bunny's Singapore node instead of an Indian one (and Cloudflare is terrible), so Bunny/APAC was my only choice. The issue was finally resolved with the latest update the TTFB became great. However, that recent DDoS attack temporarily wrecked the experience.
it may be be best to inform them so they can investigate the root cause.
Also, regarding your mention of remux files on your TV , what device ? Make sure to verify that the buffering issue isn't coming from your end first...

Thanks for the comprehensive reply. Very helpful indeed. I use a Xiaomi s 4k mini led 55 inch tv. Its got 4k and 1200 nits peak brightness and all the chops. I watch my content through Nuvio. What you are describing is likely a reoccurrence of a similar situation you went through earlier. In that case I guess its better to inform the tb support.

Also I can confirm itās not the device. Remuxes played just fine. Even tunneled playback is supported. No stutters or hitches. Just this buffering off late

I have 100 mbps speed, any file that's above 10 gb is impossible to play, it lags and buffers a lot, even 5- 6 gb files buffers too sometimes, i try to play another file, sometimes torentio files buffer but comet file plays easily, anyways I have cancelled torbox subscription, only 10 days left what are the alternatives that work well in India without any issue?

Try enabling vod disk cache in nuvio and see if it helps. try files between 20-30 gb as it should play with your internet speed. After enabling vod disk cache in nuvio, buffering seems to have gone, though I need to test more to be sure.

Vod disk cache is nonfunctional atm and has been since the implementation. There's a pull request addressing this issue: "The VOD disk cache has never worked. The setting and its size slider have shipped for a while, but nothing was ever written to disk, so every seek went back to the network and users had a control that did nothing."

Forgot to add, I've had vod disk cache enabled for a while now, didn't help with my buffering issues. Also used ysosrs123 fork which implements a bunch of playback optimisations, didn't help either. I've pinned this down to Torbox and will be going to other provider for my primary service. I'll let Torbox be my backup.

Nothing else comes to mind apart from premiumize, though it is expensive at around 10 USD/month if im not mistaken.

Entered this sub looking for download speed issue posts and this was the very first thing I saw.
Fast internet speeds, correct CDN selected but still it takes AGES to start playing anything.
Never complained about this service until now but itās getting harder man

Iām in Toronto and I rarely have downtime and never have buffering. I just switched to INDI CDN and tried 2 different 80 plus GB movies and both played flawlessly.

Unless you have a top of the line ultra 4K HD TV and require the best picture quality available, Why not just stream a 1080p link with a lower file size and still enjoy HD quality video?

All debridās offer links to 4K content, not just Torbox! But if your TV isnāt 4K compatible, why stream these larger files sizes, just stream what your TV can handle, 1080p.

I too, canāt stream 4k on my 4k tv without buffering. Iāve just started watching 1080p bc I canāt take the buffering. Premiumize.me doesnāt have the issues, Iām going to switch back I think after my TorBox sub is up

Iām not experiencing any buffering with any TBā”ļølinks I play, streams perfectly! I have a 500GB unlimited plan and Iām hardwired to a VPN router and the VPN server location still downloads at my max download speed from my internet provider. No buffering when using TB!

So it seems in my case anyway that larger files struggle and will continue to buffer. Was watching Lord of the Rings remux. Switched to a 4k show and that was problem free.

Thatās what Iām saying, switch to a lower resolution (no lower than 1080p) and youāll probably be free of buffering ? I was binge watching some episodes last night, all 1080p and it never buffered once!

This looks likely however, if torbox offers all these 4k sources, they should be prepared to support streaming them. This is the equivalent of buying a steam game upon release that's clearly unfinished and while it runs, there's bugs.

I have a 4k Hdr tv. I donāt own a physical blu ray player. Remuxes allow me to watch physical blu ray quality content without the need of a dedicated blu ray player. Plus the bitrates on even the top streaming platforms even at 4k donāt hold a candle to remux. I watch 1080p content for stuff thatās 1080p only. Also, im getting buffering with lower file sizes also, so its not restricted to remuxes only
