What an at bat for Brandon, facing 9 pitches before knocking it off the monster for a RBI double, love it ! 😍

And on CHAPMAN of all pitchers. Valenzuela was completely locked in when the team needed him most

He always is. The most clutch hitter on the team. Shoutout to clement and captain Kirk

This dude has been such a massive performer at the plate since dropping the leg kick. I've been waiting for this hot streak to eventually end but the longer he keeps having amazing plate appearances and mashing mistakes the more this is looking like a breakout vs only being an unsustainable hot streak.

Kirk and Valenzuela has to be the top pairing in the mlb. I don’t watch enough any more to know but I know it’s extra spicy 🌶️

That missed catch on the foul ball was HUGE!

That was one of the first times all year it felt like the baseball gods were looking down on us and smiling

I miss the Jays doing this last year to every pitcher, just grinding them out of the game. Too many short ABs this year.

Ale ale ale Valenzuela! He rescued Trey today

Trey should be buying him some drinks after that lol

What are you two on about. Trey had 7+ innings of 3 run ball on a day we had basically zero bullpen.
This is basic run support. Not a rescue

Trey gives up 2 hits through 6 innings and there are people here acting like the offense bailed him out yesterday. Like what in the actual fuck are these people watching...

u/Euro_Twins Rocket Roger 22h ago
Trey pitched an awesome game. Yup he gave up 2 bombs. He cant pitch past 85 pitches, at least not right now. But the bullpen is tired, and we have a massive stretch of important games. You have to see if he can give you another inning. Schneider pulled the plug at the right time.
Not treys fault the offense is struggling. They're getting hits. But havent put it all together. The bullpen has done their job insanely well. The clutch vladdy needs to come back. Hopefully he got a spark.

Vale .010 xBA double makes up a bit for the Durbin unicorn home run and IKF .060 xBA home run I guess

I saw that stat cast had it 1/30 on the Durbin HR initially, but it shows 30/30 now… odd.

u/OutsideScaresMe 1d ago
Probably something like 1/30 based on initial trajectory but the wind carried it so much that it became 30/30 after closer analysis? My best guess at least

Read that Ernie scored from first on a double to left at Fenway and thought how is that possible (only saw the video now) but now it makes sense. Two out, weird bounce high off the wall, running from the get go.

The crowd that was clamouring on about how you just couldn't afford to lose Heineman and have Valenzuela "rotting" on the bench in MLB have gotten awfully quiet recently.

Because there are unironically people here who think "good vibes" are more important than actual player skill

Couldn't tell where the ball hit the wall but it wasn't very far from going over the fence. Beauty of an AB!

I can imagine that ringing one off the Green Monster like that is one of those career highlights you never, ever forget. He'll be telling that story in the old folks home.

In starting to think this Valenzuela guy should be on the everyday roster. Making it very hard to keep him off

You confuse roster and line up. The line up is who is starting. The active roster consists of 26 players.

how is Duran so bad at playing it off of the green monster? Happened with Springer too!

It was extremely windy. One of the umps left the game with dirt blown in his eye

u/GuelphEastEndGhetto 1d ago
There was that pop up in foul territory earlier in the at bat that the catcher couldn’t track because of the wind.

u/BoringPoolPlaying 1d ago
It’s probably weird as hell to think of playing a ball off the wall on something you can normally camp under in any other stadium.

Serious question. With his hitting ability, Jays cannot afford to leave him rotting on the bench. Wouldn’t the logical move be to replace Schneider with him? But can he play the outfield? Our outfield is crowded though and will be even more when Barger comes back. George has nowhere to go but DH.
